Coolant sensor


Jeff, you haven't said what the problem is or what vehicle you have.

However, be aware that some vehicles have two coolant sensors.

One sensor sends a signal to the ECU to help control the running of the engine. The other sensor sends a signal to the temperature gauge on your dashboard - it shows you what temperature the engine is at - i.e cold, normal or hot.

If your vehicle has two coolant sensors, failure of the first type would more than likely illuminate an engine check light.

Failure of the second type would cause the dash temperature gauge to permanently read cold or hot, irrespective of the true engine temperature.

To locate this second type of sensor, look in the area of the thermostat housing. It screws into the engine block and will have 1 or 2 wires connected to it.

Fault code P0134


P0134 fault code means that the front oxygen sensor does not work. When the engine starts, the engine computer to monitor the input voltage before the oxygen sensor, if the signal voltage from the sensor within the specified time is less than 0.5V, the computer determines the sensor does not work, probably because the engine computer failure, sensor failure, between line failure, exhaust system leaks, etc., are generally sensor damage. To the service shop using the obd2 scanner can be judged. hope the answer to help you.

Here is the general definition.

P0320 FORD Description Ignition failure sensor is used to check whether the spark ignition is occurred correctly or not and also used to tachometer drive. The sensor monitors the voltage difference between a resistance which is on the battery circuit for ignition coil. When the ignition coil works properly, the electric current through the resistance is detected as voltage drop. This is confirmed for every ignition event with the crankshaft sensor and the camshaft sensor. If Engine Control Module (ECM) detects a malfunction, no ignition is possible, so the engine would not start. If there is no ignition signal for a predetermined cycle for one or two ignition coils, an ignition coil circuit failure exists.
Possible causes - Faulty Ignition/Distributor engine speed sensor
- Faulty Crankshaft Position sensor
- Ignition/Distributor engine speed sensor harness is open or shorted
- Ignition/Distributor engine speed sensor circuit poor electrical connection
- Low battery charge
- Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)

1. Cycle the ignition key ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON within 5 seconds. To cycle the ignition key ON means to turn it only as far as it takes to get the radio to come on. It does not mean to turn the engine on.

2. Count the number of times the "check engine" lamp on the instrument panel flashes on and off. The number of flashes represents the code. There is a slight pause between the flashes representing the first and second digits of the code. Longer pauses separate individual codes. For example, flash-flash-flash [pause] flash-flash represents the code 32.

A code of "55" represents end of error codes. If this is all you get then no error codes are stored in the computer. This is the normal condition

Check engine light comes on after approx. one minute. My code reader gives me a 214 in continuous memory ( cylinder ID circuit failure). I clear the code and it comes back. What is giving me this code?...


look 214 is not a valid code for a 1995 escort, this is an OBD1 system. here is a list of trouble codes for this year of ford no matter the model.

You should find the diagnostic connector under your hood normally by the fender on the battery side. By just using your test light and a jumper wire, it will tell you what kind of problem you got.

KEY ON ENGINE OFF (KOEO) TEST
Model years 1984-1995 all models of Ford
1. Make sure engine is fully warmed. If in doubt, run engine at 2000 rpm for 2 minutes.
2. Turn ignition off and wait 10 seconds for system to shut off. Make sure A/C is off and transmission is in Park (automatic) or Neutral (manual).
3. Hook up light and jumper (or a tester if you have one). Turn key to ON (do not start engine). Read the codes.

How to do it?

Example code 23: your test light should flash 2 long consecutive flashes followed by 3 short pulses.

the light has nothing to do with oil or coolant levels. it comes on for one of the following reasons. You will need to have the system computer memory tested to see which fault the system has.
