Back brakes lock-up no front brakes why

If you have dual brake reservoirs check that each one is filled to the top so that braking is effective both front and aft. If your brake system has a proportioning valve that directs braking effort between the front and back brakes, that is also an area of concern if it is faulty it can cause your symptoms.

Because of weight transfer when de accelerating, about 85 to 90 % of stopping power is generated by the front brakes and that is why they wear out much faster than the rear. You currently have a very dangerous situation with virtually no braking, and this is an issue that needs immediate attention.

Why are only two of my brakes working on my 98 bonneville pontiac?

This is a litlle strange as the master cylinder has the brakes usually set up with the fronts together and the rears together. you can see if the caliper on the front is siezed and the master cylinder frozen on the rear wheel. Does the car have ABS and if so have the lights come on

Adjusting 2007 aveo rear brakes

do not attempt any adjustments. replace the front brakes when they need it. if you try to adjust the proportioning valve you will lock up your back brakes and risk loosing control of your vehicle. you risk ruining the ABS system in your car which will cost you far far more to replace than a cheap set of brake pads. the front brakes do most of the stoping, that is why they wear out much faster than the back brakes. it is VERY IMPORTANT that you DO NOT attempt to adjust your brake proportioning valve.

On the Master cylinder, which line goes to the front and which goes to the back (ABS Brakes)

Since the front supplies over 65% of the braking power, typically the front line ( closest to the radiator) is for the back and the back line is for the front. Master cylinders work in a reverse order; as the pressure is applied from the back to the front, the back activates the front brakes and vice versa.
Hope this helps!

Wat tool do i need to remove front and back brake calipers so i can replace brake pads on a audi a4 2002 2.0 se

For front brake pads replacement you need only usually wrench set, inclusive 7 mm allen key also. But for rear brake pads replacement you need obligatory a special caliper piston pressing tool, in order to press back rear caliper piston with parking brake automatic adjustment!!! For front brake pads. First you must verify yours front brake disc diameter: 280 mm or 288 mm. (On my car y have 288 mm). After that you can buy the brake pads (with wear sensor). For change front brake pads you must raise vehicle, remove wheels, extract the retaining spring of the caliper, and remove the caliper as follow: 1. Do not disconnect the brake hose from the caliper, and do not allow the caliper to hang by the brake hose! 2. Remove top and bottom caps (on back side of the caliper) for access to guide pins, then unbolt and remove them from the brake carrier. Remove the caliper. 3. Now you must thoroughly clean the brake calipers (free of grease). 4. Remove outer brake pad from brake carrier. 5. Pull inner brake pad out of brake caliper piston. 6. Check up the brake fluid level on the reservor, and emptying if neccessary! 7. Push piston back into brake caliper housing. 8. Install inner brake pad (with expanding spring) in brake caliper piston. (Arrow marked on pad - if exist, must point in direction of brake disc rotation when vehicle is moving forward). 9. Install outer brake pad into brake carrier. 10. Bolt brake caliper housing to brake carrier using two guide pins. Tightening torque is 25 Nm. 11. Install both caps. 12. Insert retaining spring into brake caliper housing. Important: Depress the brake pedal firmly several times while the car is stationary so that the brake pads adjust to their normal operating positions!!! Check brake fluid level and top up if neccessary!!! Please Rate my Response! Thanks!

2005 MAZDA 6 BRAKE PADS

Since you are taking it back, have them check all the brake lines in front, and the wheel cylinder (if the back has drum breaks). Although you had only the front done, it's a good ideas to have them check the back brakes, and the master cylinder. Check your brake fluid before taking it back and make sure it's full, if so, you may just have air in the brake lines. If this is the case, either they forgot to bleed the brakes, or didn't bleed them enough.

Volvo 850 GLT's brakes??

if the pulsating in the steering occurs while braking this is an indications that the rotors are out of round and need to be turned or replaced. if they are causing a pulsating while driving without braking it could be the calipers sticking.

your back brakes will be cooler than the front brakes as the majority of braking is done ith the front brakes even on four wheel disc brakes. hope this helps.
