Question about 2003 Lincoln Town Car

1 Answer

Passenger side low beam not working

2003 Lincoln Town Car passenger side low beam won't turn on. THE BULB IS NOT BURNED OUT. Tested the bulb and tested the entire headlight unit by plugging it into the other side and it worked fine. I was told the LCM had a bad relay. I opened it and replaced both relays. Still have no power on the passenger low beam. #3 Fuse is ok also. What's wrong? Is there a wiring diagram online?

Open hood and remove the radiator site shield and the air delector on top of the headlamp assembly. You will then see 2 clips that you will pull up and then remove the headlamp assembly.

Hi Steven, I guess you have checked the fuses? Some time (and I'n not saying this is your problem) the fuses are wired in such a way that if one blows (and the fuse is on the earth side of the circuit) there will be an output, but the circuit will either use the earth through the the other bulb or fail to earth. I would also suggest having a look at the relays and their operation. Lastly, check the earth connections again. Regards John

What would cause the low beam headlight not to work when all other lights work?

If you have standard halogen bulbs:

  1. Burned out light bulb; or
  2. Fried wires between the dashboard wiring harness and the headlight bulb connectors; or
  3. Fried headlight bulb connectors.
If you have HEI emitters:
  • Failed ballast.

It is most likely the multifunction switch has a bad contact, also pull and check the main hdlight switch for burned connectors.
