Question about 2005 Chevrolet Silverado

1 Answer

I own a 1998 GMC 2500 5.0 L pickup and for several months now the blower motor has been working intermittently. It doesn't seem to matter what speed the selector is set on. It will come on and off several times during my drives and lately it stays off more then it runs. I have replaced the resistor as it was only $18 but there is no change. Where do I look from here?

You say the blower goes on/off at any speed?,you mean if on high it cuts off?,on low it cuts off?sounds the same???. Try putting a continuity lamp at the fuse box and watch(someone watch)to see if light goes on/off;"could" be power is disconnected at blower(if light stays on). This is free of cost(s) and somewhere to start. Hope this helps somewhat. Alberto

SOURCE: 2004 Chevrolet Silverado Heater/AC Blower on without Ignition ON

there is no relay for the heater fan it's a 15 amp fuse and is on the accessories circuit. the reostat is responsible for all 3 speeds .with the key off there should be no voltage to the blower motor whether the fans speed fan switch is on or off. the fuse will be located in the fuse paneleither on the drivers left side in the dash or underneath the dash in the fuse block. you have a short in the harness that is under the dash and most likely it's a bad plug on the harness. your going to have to do some searching but that's where the problem short is... please rate

SOURCE: Blower motor or resistor?

If it was the motor that went out then it would not blow at all. The resistor is the culprit that starts killing off speeds. It should be about $25 to $30 at an aftermarket store like autozone or advanced auto parts.

Where is the blower motor for the heater on a 97 chevy blazer 4.3 L?

It will be under the hood on the passenger side of the firewall. If it has never been changed there may be a plastic cover over it that will need to be cut out and removed. There are labels on the cover that will tell you where you need to cut in order to gain access to the blower motor.

Blower motor works intermittantly

Check the blower motor resistor module. It is by the blower motor on the passengers side under the dash.Check the connector for it getting hot and not making good contact. These resistors are known to go bad.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Heat/ac blower motor works on high. intermittent on other speeds.

Check the blower resistor pack - usually located in the heater air ducting in the blower fan airflow. Check for loose connections and open circuit resistors on the unit.
If speed 4 works always, its unlikely to be the blower motor ground connection.

1998 GMC Sierra pickup truck cabin fan problem

Your blower moter is under your glovebox and very easy to replace.I dont think thats your ploblem.I would pull off the dash.It will snap right off without breaking anything. Then pull out the part that holds the selector switch for the fan speed. Then you unplug that switch.Clean the copper contacts.Plug it back in.If everything works again like it should and did in my truck then it is either that switch that is bad or the wiring harness.I would replace that switch.
