So you have the driveshaft, crossmember and all other connections loose and all bellhousing bolts out? Are you sure you didn't miss a bell housing bolt on top? Double check that. It should fall right out if all the bolts are out. Do you have any gap between the trans and engine or is it still mounted flush? I take it this is an automatic trans right.

I don't understand the question, anyway aluminum tube are not much better, electrolosis from disimilar metals in water jacket would take care of the aluminum in about the same timeframe, i would go stainless steel lines,

no but it sounds like the dominio effect repair one thing and it goes elsewhere,mechanics nightmare this trust me ,if the water pump is leaking now then it needs changing i think the cause here is the possibility the antifreeze went acidic and the only thing to cause this is a head gasket but i would need my head and greasy hands under the bonnet for good look .
