My 2002 Ford Taurus only clicks when I turn the key. The battery is charged , lights and horn all work well. Thief light blinks.

Your security system is a starter disable type system. You can usually jump the starter motor, for testing, to see if it will crank the engine, even if it will crank that doesn't mean it will start, probably won't if security system is involved.
There are safety issues with jumping the starter, you have to be sure tranny is in park or neutral and parking brake is set. Safety is your responsibility.
Unplug starter relay, use jumper wire on load side of relay between two terminals, the load side is that line with arrow head, one of those terminals is hot all the time.

You can try different key, nothing on key ring except that one key. Check for applicable trouble codes. To check codes yourself, at the least, you need an obd2 code reader that will read manufacturer specific codes as well as p0 codes.

How do i get codes out of the ecm 1994 toyta corolla can i use a jumper wire? if so what wires do i jump?

Best is to take to a friend or someone who has a scan tool with OBD2 compatability. This is the best way to find, scan, and print out the codes. Jumping may cause damage to the computer.

How do I jump the plug to get the codes without a reader?

If it is 96 or newer, you cannot do that, if it is pre obd2, jump the upper right 2 terminals, then turn on the key.

Replaced the O2 sensor unit and the ECM(programs installed) but I'm still getting CHECK ENGINE LIGHT(P0001). what is the possible problem and how can this be resolved?

P0001 Fuel Volume Regulator Control Circuit/Open The above code is about an oxygen sensor code for the heater circuit located in bank 1 sensor 1. (bank 1 is at exhaust manifold by the #1 cylinder head, bank 2 is on the 2nd cylinder head. On some engines, both exhaust manifolds could have one oxygen sensor each side and the 2nd cylinder head will have the sensor 2). On the oxygen sensor itself, it has 4 wires which are color coded. Two of wires are for the heater circuit that heats the oxygen sensor to make it reach optimum operation quickly. Those 2 oxygen sensor heater wires could be shorted between the sensor and the ecm (engine computer) or other engine components.
oxygen%20sensor%20heater%20copy.jpgThe common fix for this code is to check the integrity of the heater wires. Check the wires for insulation and routing which could be loose or touching a hot exhaust that can short the wires. If the engine has too many miles, it is possible that the heater circuit inside is worn and shorted which needs a replacement of the oxygen sensor. If you have a DVOM, you can also test the continuity of the heater wires from the oxygen sensor to your computer pins.
More detailed fixes will be provided as soon as you give the symptoms of the obd2 trouble code. ATS will provide the wiring diagram so you can trace the color coded wires. Use an obd2 code reader or scanner so you can access this obd2 trouble code. When you have this obd2 code list, use it as a reference and give the code to ATS. We will then send you all the possible fixes for the obd2 trouble code. ATS has lots of fixes for obd2 gm codes, obd2 ford codes, dodge obd2 codes and all obd2 import codes such as Toyota obd2 codes, Honda obd2 codes, Nissan obd2 codes, etc. All fixes for this obd2 codes are guaranteed or your money back.
Important TIPS about Oxygen sensor:
The oxygen sensor content of the exhaust gas indicates when the engine mixture is operating lean or rich. When the oxygen sensor detects that the engine is operating rich, the signal voltage is high, and any decreases in the signal voltage means the engine running is lean. The engine computer supplies a reference voltage like one volt or five volts, and then shows the change in the sensor return voltage as the sensor's resistance is changing. If you have connected everything properly, when you crank the engine, you should see the check engine light coming out.
Unheated oxygen sensors rely on the heat of the exhaust gases to reach the working temperature, therefore they might start to cool down while the engine is idling and revert back to a default air-fuel ratio setting. This type of sensor usually has a single wire connector, though others have two. Unlike the fuel pump relay, the 02 sensor heater circuits have a separate fuse for each sensor and grounds, which are controlled by the engine computer.
To read a voltage across the heater, one side must be connected to (+) and one side must be connected to (-), which is accomplished by the computer or a transistor. It can read 12V between each wire and a separate ground if it was connected to positive and the other was not yet connected to ground connection (for details, please contact ATS).after you replace oxygen sensor you have to drive for so many miles before it resets its sef

When I plug my scan tool into the computer of my 95 S10 jimmy, there is no communication. I tried replacing the omputer and got the same.

Okay, what you may have on your hands here is what has become known as an obd1.5 computer setup. Some of the 94's and 95's were made in anticipation of the switch to the obd2 set up. To determine if you fall in to this category locate your vehicle's computer. If it is under your hood in the engine compartment and you have two oxygen sensors and the port for your scanner fits an obd2 scanner then you have an obd2 system and your inability to link is either an electrical issue or something wrong with the computer itself.

If the computer is not in the engine compartment, you have one oxygen sensor, and the port for your scanner is rectangular you have an obd1 system.

If your computer is not in the engine compartment, you have one oxygen sensor and you have an obd2 scanner port you have an obd1.5.

Obd1 systems can be checked with an obd1 reader or much more easily with a paper clip or jumper wire. Just google something to effect of obd1 paper clip method. If there is still no communication once again you more than likely have an issue with your computer or electrical system.

If you have a true obd1.5 system do not fret there is still hope :) Yes there are some obd2 scanners that will work on these and there are some reportedly fancy obd1.5 code readers, however the easiest (and least expensive) way to pull the codes from this system is to use a modified version of the paper clip method. Instead of using your paper clip or jumper wires on terminals A&B, jump terminals 5&6.

Look at your scanner port. Count the terminals on the top row starting from the left. There should be connections in terminals 4, 5, and 6. Connect the jumper to terminals 5 and 6 and turn the key to the 'on' position (without turning the engine over). Your check engine light will flash. Each code will be two digits long and will flash three times (sort of like morse code). The first one will be a 1 and a 2, thus code 12. This code can be overlooked as it is just stating that the computer is being jumped. The codes that follow are the ones you should take note of.

These two digit codes correspond to the two digit obd1 codes. You can find their definitions on any number of websites. I personally prefer the haynes troublecode book though as it includes some make specific information.

Good Luck!

Do not jump pins. a 93 is obd 1, and obd 2 scanner can be hooked up to identify the problem. Go to a parts dealership and they will read the code free of charge

I have a 1995 olds 88 that is pre OBD2 but it has the OBD2 connector. It will not allow me to retrive codes???

The 1995 Olds 88 has an obd 2 plug, but is an obd 1 system. Some people call it obd 1.5
There is no option to jump 2 contacts to flash the codes on the check engine light in these cars.
You will either need a compatible scan tool, or a cable to hook to a laptop and the software to pull the codes. (check out www.aldlcable.com)
One such scan tool is the Actron CP9185. It has the extra data pin for the 8192 baud communication with the computer in these cars. (pin 9 on the OBD 2 connector)
