Question about Ford Escape
Shifter is stuck in the park position, and the brake lights don't work. The brake light fuse is not blown, and the brake light bulbs are both good. It their a shared relay, or a shared switch?
Well the same brake light switch for the rear lights unlocks the shift lock solenoid. You may be able to shift out of park when the key is between lock and on. There are two fuses involved.

For the column shifter it is on the left hand side of the steering wheel column behind the knee panel.
For the console shifter it is under the cup holder, think it is still on the left side.
For either of them, the shift interlock solenoid has a white button on it, that you can press and it will release the gear shift lever.
This is for the 2004 New Body style truck, if you have a 2004 Heritage or Lightning, it is slightly different.
