Question about 2006 Ford F-150

1 Answer

Engine will sometimes die and will not restart. I have found that sometimes it will restart after pulling the bottom 2 relays in the fuse panel inside the truck. It sometimes takes leaving the relays out for a 24 hour period of time.It has a 4.6 v-8. Checked the battery voltage and found the positive and negative polarity reversed to get voltage reading any clues

Have you tried replacing the fuses entirely? Also, does the starter sound like its turning over or does it not do anything?

SOURCE: Instrument panel went dead

Checked Every fuse in the fuse box (no small task). This includes #4 - Power point Instrument Panel, #14 - Day time running lamps (auto lamps doesn't work nor does auto lock), #27 - ignition switch run feed, #35 - Instrument Cluster, #41 - Instrument Cluster, #42 - Delayed Accessory, #45 - Ignition switch run/start feed, #102 - Door locks body security module, #103 - Ignition switch, #110 - Ignition switch, & #116 - Ignition switch. But I also check all other ones as well, they all register OK. AC panel & radio work. Turn signals work. Mileage does not work, trip computer does. So, basically, everything works except auto head-lights, auto locks, and the dash cluster (no MPH, RPM, mileage display, Fuel, Temp, Tran Temp, and Oil Pressure).

Electric, fan will not run with out jumper wire , driver side door handle will not alow accsess

Somewhere on the engine is a sensor (maybe 2) and somewhere else is a relay (maybe 2) for the fan.
Suspect the sensor, which most usually screws into the engine block, (since it is engine temperature controlled), remembering there is coolant/antifreeze in the engine which will leak out when you unscrew the sensor.
The relay or relays usually found under the hood, could also be the problem.
Myself, I'd buy them off e-bay because they are usually cheaper.
Driver's door handle has small stiff wire levers and controls, connected from the handle to the door latch inside, which will sometimes have nylon or plastic bushings at the ends, which will over time disintegrate. You'll need to pull the driver's door panel off to diagnose that.

2003 LANCER 2.OLT=REPLACED BATTERY,REPLACED 100AMP FUZE@BATT=CAR TURNS OVER BUT WON'T START! A JUMP START WAS ATTEMPTED BUT BELIEVE THEY CROSSED THE CABLES! HELP !

..@briver916...Recheck all the fuses and relays in the 2 boxes under the hood and another one of fuses and relays panel inside the car, front of the driver seat, behind the pull out box next to the hood release handle..Under the hood check inside the one with 8" black square box;Check # 1 slot fuse, it is 60 amps for (+B ), check # 8 slot fuse for Engine control 20 amps, check # 15 slot Fuel pump 15 amps..And check another skinny black box lie next to that box, it has relay F, that is Engine control, check that also...And inside the car fuses panel; Check # 1 slot fuse 10 amps that for Ignition coil, # 8 slot Engine control 7.5 amps, # 12 slot Engine control 7.5 amps..After that recheck the battery post, that maybe needed re-tight..Don't force to tight too much, that will crack and broke the post and the plastic battery body...And check all the ignition wires and spark plugs that are tight or needed to replace..And check all the vacuum lines that are loose and leaks suctions or sometimes they are crack open by long ages..By the way check and recheck all those other fuses and relay for make sure they are good...Believe me that not hard to figure out those problems..You did everything rights so far..That one 100 amps fuse at the + battery post cable was connect to alternator for recharging your battery and give power to other items when car was running..Below that post, the middle cable was connect to the starter motor and the bottom cable was connect to that 8" black fuses and relays box under the hood...

Where is the fuel pump relay located on a 2004 ford expediton.

67sunbeam, this is a rather complex system. The actual fuel pump, relay is located in the central conjunction box which is located behind the left kick panel. IT IS NON SERVACEABLE according to Ford. There is an inertia switch inside the left rear cab corner near the bottom. Just push it into the relay, if it was tripped, it will click. There is a fuseable link in the engine compartment next to the battery on the engine side. Aside from that, the fuel pump it self could have connection problems and more. Beyond the simple things, unless you fix cars for a living, it may cost you more to fix it you self than to bring it to a pro.

1998 Toyota Avalon radio not working checked fuses all are good any ideas?

This got me too. Until I found there is a second fuse inside the engine bay fuse panel. You've checked the fuses inside the car under the steering wheel, now check the fuse panel next to your battery. Open your hood, and find the plastic cover to the fuse.relay panel. remove the clips and pull lid off. Turn the lid so it's oriented properly for the labels, and find the rad fuse and pull it to check it visually.

Where is the fuse panel for 1998 Lincoln town car?

The fuse box is located on the kick panel on the driver side( below and left of the steering wheel) ther is a door or lid to open and expose the panel. There should be extra fuses stored inside and a plastic fuse pulled tool as well

2000 vw cabrio runs normal and shuts down, takes 5 to 20 minutes to restart, engine cranks but doesnt start, changed ignition coil, pulled diagnostic codes getting short to ground codes on cylinder...

On some models, the Engine Control unit has a power supply relay. These relays some times get internal dry solder points. After driving for some time the the solder will get hot and separate. When it cools down it makes contact again. You will have to replace this relay or open it up and re- solder the solder joints. The relay is usually located on the main relay station in position 3. the relay station is located behind the right dash panel.[right hand drive vehicles]. You may need to refer to a manual for your specific model to find the exact location of the relay.

Find relay and give it a tap, to see if that helps. Not sure on that if its along drivers fender under hood or not, but listen for click from small 1"x1" roughly relay attached somewhere in engine compartment area, firewall, fender area.
