How to add HFC 134a refrigerant to a subaru outback?

this is best done by a ac specialist as it operates at higher pressures than the old gas. If you need to add refrigerant then you have a leak that has to be fixed first

How much refrigerant does a 1999 dodge grand caravan hold?

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.
This is probably more information that you wanted but... have to cover all the possibilities:
If you are servicing a system that has leaked you have no idea how much oil it left in the system.
DO it right the first time......
The proper way to service it is to connect it to a recovery & servicing unit. Evacuate and test the system for leaks, then reservice the system per the specs below.
1999 Dodge Caravan:

. Low side gauge (evaporator suction): 10 to 37 psi.*
. High side gauge (discharge): 112 to 210 psi.*
. Refrigerant oil capacity (without rear A/C): 5.00 oz.
. Refrigerant oil capacity (with rear A/C): 7.40 oz.
. Refrigerant capacity (without rear A/C): 2.13 lbs. of R-134a
. Refrigerant capacity (with rear A/C): 2.88 lbs. of R-134a

*Sea level and ambient air temperature of 80 degrees F.

Where do I add the new r 410a refridgerant on 2004 Pontiac vibe?

410a cannot be used in a automotive system it will cause damage to your compressor, other other a/c components.
410a is used for home use only.as a substitute for R-22
see below definition.

Although the United States Environmental Protection Agency has mandated that R-22 along with other hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) be phased-out in the United States, few window-mounted air conditioners are available that use R-410A. However, all of the largest central air conditioning systems manufacturers in the United States offer R-410A. As an alternative to window-mounted systems, a ductless "split" system is available which uses R-410A refrigerant, and can be installed with a 3-inch hole through the wall (or window opening).[4] R-410A has replaced R-22 as the preferred refrigerant for use in residential and commercial air conditioners in Japan and Europe.
Parts designed specifically for R-410A must be used as R-410A operates at higher pressures[5] than other refrigerants. Thus R-410A systems require service personnel to use different tools, equipment, safety standards and techniques.[6] Equipment manufacturers are aware of these changes and require the certification of professionals installing R-410A systems. In addition the AC&R Safety Coalition has been created to help educate professionals about R-41-A system.
manufactures recommendations for vehicle

NOTE:
  • R-134a is the only approved refrigerant for use in this vehicle. The use of any other refrigerant may result in poor system performance or component failure.
  • To avoid system damage use only R-134a dedicated tools when servicing the A/C system.
  • Use only Polyalkylene Glycol Synthetic Refrigerant Oil (PAG) for internal circulation through the R-134a A/C system and only 525 viscosity mineral oil on fitting threads and O-rings. If lubricants other than those specified are used, compressor failure and/or fitting seizure may result.
  • R-12 refrigerant and R-134a refrigerant must never be mixed, even in the smallest of amounts, as they are incompatible with each other. If the refrigerants are mixed, compressor failure is likely to occur. Refer to the manufacturer instructions included with the service equipment before servicing.

The lowside port is located by the firewall next to the brake booster and the highside is located next to the air filter box towards the bottom.

Have 134a refrigerant and shop where I bought it said owners manual will have the how to instructions. Unfortunately it doesn't. I see on the line there is a stem to screw the hose into but want to make...

No,you won't find it in the owner's manual. It charges through the low pressure side, which is the larger of the 2 available ports. You can't hook it up wrong. I suggest you buy a Hayne's manual for the truck. It has 90% of any answer you might need. A/C can be tricky to fix for the novice. If charging doesn't work, take it to the shop.

Say Guys....Anyone out there know the freon capacity (134a) on a 1998 Silverado 1/2 ton 5.7L? If you also have oil cap. Great! Theroad

There is a sticker under the hood that tells you it is a 134a system and how much refrigerant it holds, and what kind of a/c oil to use. My guess is around 2 pounds, but it is an exact science. Too much or too little will cause it not to cool

AC STOPPED BLOWING COLD; ONLY BLOWS ON MAX MANUAL SETTING

Your AC is low on refrigerant; The AC compressor needs a minimum amount of regrigerant to run. If and when it does run (while low on refrigerant) the air coming out of the vents will not be cold. The refrigerant you require is R-134A and is available over the counter but if you are the least bit unsure as to how to add refrigerant, taking it to a garage that does AC recharging would be your best play. If you want to try to add refrigerant on your own you will need the following, 1LB can of R-134A, an AC hose adapter to deliver the refrigerant, and preferably an AC pressure guage to ensure you are not overfilling the AC line which will damage the system.
