Program garage door to use buttons on visor
SOURCE: how do you program...
The built-in system in your '98 Jeep is made by a company called "HomeLink", a subsidiary of Johnson Controls Inc. The website, www.homelink.com, has a walk through tutorial that should do the trick. It's a matter of taking and existing hand-held remote control for your opener, pressing and holding its button, and pressing and holding the button you wish to use in the visor at the same time (with the remote positioned very close to the visor). The appropriate flashes on the LED above the row of three buttons will let you know when the HomeLink system is set up. Depending on you opener, you may then need to locate a "learn" button on the overhead garage door opener mechanism, and program the HomeLink system into the opener's memory.

Hold down the 2 outer buttons until the red light flashes (20-30 seconds) and release.
Select one of the 3 buttons you want to program and press that button.
Hold the handheld transmitter 1-2 inches from the visor transmitter.
Using 2 hands, press and hold the button on the handheld remote and the visor remote at the same time.
Continue to hold both buttons until the red light on the universal transmitter flashes first slowly then rapidly.
Release both buttons when the rapid flashing begins.
The transmitter is now programmed.
Note that if the remote doesn't open the garage door, your opener may have a "rolling code" or "code protected " feature.
If your opener has a rolling code feature then you will have to train the opener to accept the visor transmitter. See the owners manual for the opener.
I hope this helps you out. I do not have this feature in my car, I took the instructions from a ford manual. The manual also gives a phone number to call if you have problems 1-800-355-3515 (Homelink). I don't know if this number is still good or not. It can't hurt to try it out. Good Luck!

Owners manual starting on page 66.
The basic process is to sync an existing remote to the homelink, then train the homelink to the opener.
You will also need your owners manual for your opener, to know the process to train a new remote to it ( watch that you do not have too many already trained, else it will disable the 1st remote ).
If you did not get an owners manual with your truck ( purchased used ), you can download one from Ford :

Download the owners manual in PDF, and search for homelink. The instructions are somewhat long, so this would be an easier route.

The outline is train a remote to the visor ( so the homelink gets the base code ) and then train the button on the homelink to the opener ( the visor has a different shared code, so it is a 2 step process ).
Takes about 5 min to do. Also make sure you do not have more than 6 remotes on the door you are programming, else it will push the 1st one off ( usually the case with Chamberlin, your mfgr could be more or less )

You must read and follow the instructions very carefully.
After you program the visor you must then program the opener to accept the visor code. Press the learn/memory/program button then press and hold the visor button (within 20seconds) the next time you press the button the door should move.
