Question about Cars & Trucks

Need to lubricate an o-ring

I don't have any silicone grease, need to use the flashlight, and the o-ring sticks too much to easily rotate the head to turn it on or off.

Silicone lubricant is far ahead as the recommended stuff, but OK.... Vaseline is out as it is petroleum based, although yours is not a critical application. So try lanolin, hand cream, KY jelly or similar, soap, wax or spit.

SOURCE: "Greasing" battery posts and clamps

Does not inprove contact it causes a poor contact when the grease gets hot and works it way between the terminal end and the terminal post. Don't recommend doing this. just clean the top of the battery with 1 -2 gal of hot water when needed

How to replace crank sensor

Looking at a repalcement crank sensor online it appears to be held in place by single bolt; probabaly a 10 mm hex head bolt. The sensor uses an o-ring so you will have to pry the sensor out after removing the bolt. When installing the new sensor, spray the new o-ring with silicone spray so it will slip into palce more easily. (You could use silicone gease as well.)

I have a 2002 ford expedition 5.4l engine and my ignition coil number 2 has burnt several times

Normally COP failure is due to moisture getting into the spark plug bore. When you install the COP's be make sure the plug boot is coated where it seals to the head with electric silicon grease prior to installing. I use the silicon grease on both ends of the plug boot, personally I just fill up both ends of the boot and also fill up the connector also. FYI don't buy those little packages at the parts counter at $2 a piece, Napa and Orelly's sales a can for $8 and it is well worth it. Since I have began coating the sealing surface of the boot and putting it in the connector I have not had any issues with failing COP's. Another thing that could cause COP's to consistently fail would be leaking injector O-rings. I'm not saying the gas is causing the moisture problem, could be but lets hope not. What you would be looking for in this case is dust that looks like it has been wet and surrounding the injector. O-rings come in a set of four and you will need two sets, one for the fuel rail and one for the head, also use silicon grease in the injector connection, I apply it to every electrical connection. Hope this helps.

Warning light does not go out when footbrake is released via the pull release handle

The problem is easily solved my lubricating the foot brake cable with some silicon grease. Th ebest place to buy it is from a pro bicycle shop, because pro bikes use lots of cables and they need to work perfectly when shifting their many 20+ gears.

Nissan maxima 2004 power lock sticking unable to unlock the car with the remote or the internal switch. some doors will unlock but the driver side and front passenger will not. sometimes the rear door are...

If you live "up north", I would be suspecting rust or corrosion inside the door mechanisms.
You should be needing to take all 4 door panels off, all the whilst remembering that the clips holding the door panels on may be plastic and are very easily broken.
You might need to take the inside door mechanisms apart and lubricate them.
Be sure to use a lubricant that will not evaporate or wash off with water.
I like silicone grease for this.
God bless your efforts.

Moisture in headlight?

Take out the head light bulb partially and turn on the brights. the water will dry out in seconds. The seal for the head light is leaking so take the headlight assembly out and look for where is leaking use clear silicon for the housing and look at where the bulb fits into it and make sure its sealed up also. Use lithium or silicon grease. if it has a o ring seal

Power window on driver side door sticks

Yes the door's rubber window guide becomes dry and needs to be lubricated with a special silicone lubricant, go to Napa and ask for this silicone lube then apply it to the grooves located around the inner perimiter of the door window frame, sometimes it is neccessary to remove the door panel to access the lower window guides, if you remove the door panel becareful when removing clips along the lower part of panel you can damage the panel using a screw driver the sell a tool for this it looks like a screwdriver with a Y shape at the end. If this doesn't remidy the problem you more than likely have a worn out window motor that needs replacement.
