you will have to raise the rear of the car then undo the fuel lines, electrical wires, vent line and the gas tank straps supporting the tank you will have to support the tank before undoing the straps, then lower the tank until you can remove the fuel tank lock ring and remove the fuel pump assembly, note that some had and extra fuel line connected to the pump assembly inside the tank and you will have to pull the pump assembly so far until you can disconnect this line. assembly in reverse order. also replace the fuel filter if its been a while.

remove gas tank straps and make sure to unplug the fuel pump harness and remove filler tube from tank it is usually screwed down where you put gas in to fill it up
DISCONNECT THE NEGATIVE TERMINAL OF THE BATTERY. Relieve the fuel pressure by loosening the 6mm service bolt (smaller one of the two) on top of the fuel filter (rear of engine compartment). The fuel pump is located in the fuel tank. In the trunk, look in front of the spare tire well. Take off (carefully pry up) the LEFT metal access cover from the floor of the trunk. Remove the electrical connector and disconnect the two fuel lines. Remove the fuel pump mounting bolts (hard to see). Pull the fuel pump up and out. NOTE: If the fuel pump hits the trunk as you try to pull it out, and you can't remove it, you'll have to LOOSEN the straps on the tank, lowering it a bit, so you can wiggle the pump out. Install is reverse of removal. IF YOUR VEHICLE YEAR IS '87, THEN THE PUMP IS EXTERNAL.
With a jack under the gas tank...unbolt the gas tank and lower the tank 8 to 10 inches until you can reach the small bolts ( in a 6 inch circle ) that fasten the fuel pump to the top of gas tank. You might need to remove hoses to tank to lower. Disconnect electrical lines to fuel pump and remove.
its not too bad a job , try to drain out the remaining fuel somehow to eliminate extra weight and chance of spilling fuel, remove filler tube connections that connect to the body , remove the straps that support the tank(s), lower tank(s) withhelp whenever possible, remove connecting wires to the float/fuel pump assembly, then replace with new tank in reverse matter, if have spare tire under tank just remove out of the way, also disconnect the battery to avoid any type of sparks when working around fuel fumes, actually not to hard of a job , just usually dirty and time consuming for the first time , also if you cant get the support straps to unbolt you can always cut them off and replace with new ones.
remove rear seat, remove round metal cover, disconnect fuel lines and wires from top of fuel pump, jack up rear of car. remove gas tank straps, lower gas tank with a jack, install is reverse.....if you need to just replace the fuel pump you don't have to remove tank you Can access from under rear seat good luck and please rate -jeff
Disconnect the negative post on the battery. Support the tank with a jack with a plywood piece. Disconnect the metal straps holding the tank. Slowly lower the tank. Disconnect the fuel lines from the top of the tank and plug them with a screw or something similar in size. Remove the retainer ring holding the fuel pump/sending unit with a brass punch and hammer. Pull the fuel pump/sending unit out and replace it.
