When the key is used to unlock the door the alarm is activated.

You need to get one that works on the same wide range frequency as the reciever in the car, and then it's a simple matter of opening both the new and old fobs, and matching the fine frequency settings by putting the little switches inside where they should be according to the old fob's switches. If there are no switches in the old fob, it's preset and there's not much you can do about it.

the circuit boards on those factory remotes, sometime break where the battery is clipped in, check to make sure the solder is holding the clip properly and it is not loose, also they remote may need to be programmed to the vehcile with a scan tool, usually only found at GM, Also the rubber part of the remote on the inside where the pad touchs the circuit board, uses a small screwdriver and touch the exposed circuit, if the remote locks the doors, try putting in tiny peice of alumumn tape of the inside pad, the connectiveness of the rubber wears off. If not try above or dealer.
