Hi my eps light is comming on and i lose power streering how do i fix it

It cannot be fixed until the problem with the Electronic Power Steering(EPS) is properly diagnosed.
The power assist system is comprised of...
  • EPS computer unit
  • Warning light on the dashboard
  • A connection to the OBD2 Diagnostic port in the car
  • A Vehicle speed sensor
  • A sensor which detects steering rotation on the input shaft of the steering rack
  • An electric motor, which provides the power steering assistance to the steering rack. Unless that motor runs you will have no power assistance to your steering.
  1. You will need to have the system scanned with the appropriate scan tool through the OBD port in the car. This will generate various fault codes which assist in diagnosing where the problem lies in the power steering system. It may be just a failed sensor that needs replacing or it might be a bigger problem.
  2. Once the fault codes have been pulled the mechanics can diagnose the cause and make whatever repairs or parts changes may be required.
  3. This is not a do it yourself exercise. You will need a mechanic who knows these Japanese electronic power steering systems and who understands the fault codes (and there are many of them on this EPS system) to diagnose the problem for you and fix whatever fault(s) has arisen.

P/S light showing continuously and the steering becomes tight?

Check level of Power Steering fluid. Check belt tension. Some newer cars have an electric power steering system, you may need to have that checked.

Power steering failure

I would have the power steering system tested, it is a possible steering rack issue.

Bleed power steering on 2008 dodge avenger

to bleed power steering, with front wheels off ground slightly with front wheels pointing straight ahead.engine off. remove power steering filler cap.add power steering until fluid level stop dropping, wait couple minutes and wait, add fluid until level stay at full cold mark on power steering cap dip stick. dont over fill.when fluid level stop dropping, start vechicle, let it idle few minutes. see if fluid level drop if so add more fluid full cold mark.then turn steering all the way to left and right with out hitting a stop.turn steering wheel several times, then turn front wheels pointing forward check power steering fluid level.if power steering fluid level stop dropping air should be out of system, if steering turning wheel dont turn smoothly and power steering fluid look light tan color air getting in the system.check all power steering lines to rack and power steering pump for leaks.be sure you replaced all the power steering lines with new o rings if not you will get a leak.if you find a leak, you need to fix the leak and bleed system again.dont drive vechicle if your steering dont feel right, have vechicle towed to a garage.

Power steering light come on.

HELLO: THIS CAR HAS ELECTRIC POWER STEERING. IF THE LIGHT IS ON THAT MEANS THERE IS A MALFUNCTION WITH THE SYSTEM. YOU WILL HAVE TO HAVE THE SYSTEM CHECKED FOR CODES WITH A SCANNER TO DETERMINE WHAT IS WRONG.

2005 Suzuki Forenza warning light: Right side of dash, looks like a steering wheel with exclamation point to the right of it....Power steering seems fine and fluid is full. What is this?.....Thank you!

Speed Sensitive Power Steering

(SSPS) Warning Light

Your vehicle is equipped with Speed Sensitive Power Steering (SSPS).

This is a computer-controlled power steering assist system.

The warning light you are describing will come on briefly when you turn the ignition to ON as a check to show you the bulb is working.

Then it should go out after a few seconds. If the warning light does not come on, have it fixed so it will be able to warn you if there is a problem.

If the warning light stays on, or comes on while you are driving, the SSPS system may not be working.
Your computer will need to be scanned to determine what the problem is with your SSPS system.

Power Steering: Refer to Power Steering System Description and Operation in Power Steering System

The electric power steering (EPS) system reduces the amount of effort needed to steer the vehicle. The system uses the body control module (BCM), power steering control module (PSCM), torque sensor, discrete battery voltage supply circuit, EPS motor, serial data bus, and the instrument panel cluster (IPC) message center to perform the system functions. The PSCM, torque sensor, not the EPS motor are serviced separately from each other or from the steering column. Any EPS components diagnosed to be malfunctioning requires replacement of the steering column assembly, also known as the EPS assembly.

My power stering light is on

There are a few things to try:
1.) Check the power steering fluid, the level of the fluid will be on a rather short dipstick, and in most cases the power steering fluid container is on or around the cylinder head.
2.) The power steering pump is bad. The power steering pump has a pulley connected to it, and a belt which should go to other pulleys. The belt could be the problem as well. What happens is the belt moves the pulleys and allows the power steering fluid to be pumped through the steering system.
If the light is on, and you still have power steering I would say the fluid is low.
