06 Dodge Magnum 5.7 hemi, rear tail lights won't come on. Brake, turn, reverse and cation lamps all work normally, it is only the red running lights and plate lamp that don't come on. Tail and brake lamps us the same fuse so that isn't the problem, I'm thinking it maybe the light switch it self. Does anyone know how to trouble shoot this with out ripping my dash apart?

All else ok car drives ok, HL work? heater works, radio works
all other things work just one problem, rear?
is battery showing 12.6vdc parked and rested DMM?meter.
no Country told at all , sorry cars not the same world wide.
dodge exports cars, that is a fact, and not told where yours was delivered new, but the VIN code tells us and all parts stores, this fact. and manual books are for only one country.
question #1, is this a DRL car, say seen in CANADA?
Day light running lamps is an option here USA but up in Canada is law. so what you have IDK. I can not guess options on any car.
get a shop to fix it>?
question 3 is the passenger on the right side of car, USA LHD car?
best is use the words right and left for best responses

Right Rear or RR, park is dead.
but wait, it is dead.with its TUrN sig, Brake and reverse dead too.

rear passenger side tail light blinker,brake,reverse light don't
well that is bad ground at the RR lamp assembly. but ....
but wait , ground is good, due to your test #1(ODD MAX)
so what is wrong is easy the BCM has gone berserk or DRL module.

2012 Dodge Avenger RT manual the BRAIN box here is (not BCm named) it is TIPM (just like my jeep)
TIPM runs all lamps.
here is what to do.
1: check all fuses, for sure in the TIPM
2: make sure battery is charged fully to 12.6vdc, rested
is car battery 10 years od
is the dash cluster lamp (charge /battery) glowing while engine runs?
oops.
3: scan the PCm is next. if you see communication errors, bingo
fixing any modern car lacking a scantool is near impossible
for sure TIPM errors (vast) or DTC For battery fails.

the question is, why is he TIPM messing up, this is it.
lots of ways, rent a scan tool and end the guessing;

grounds to all lamps good,(the failed ones)

fuses are always first, a 20cent fix. is way and childs play test (or a look)
fuse 1 and 9 not blown in IP BOX x2 , 15amps
OMG fuse 9 runs brake lamps. is this clue , YES
the next in LINE is Electronic flaster not bad.
5 wires and the black ground wire not busted.G204
next in line is the very complex MULTIswitch (column)
next is the BRAKE PEDAL switch NOT BAD.
if not bad 12vdc (push brake pedal) leaves the switch
R/GL wire to all brake lamps including 3 center high mounted lamp and its G300 ground

fix brake lamps only first.
fix that and others get fixed for free (shirt tails free)
to test lamps at rear for brakes the pedal must be depressed . a 2 man job.
fuse 9, hot both sides. and is hot all the time bat side.
brake switch LG/R wire hot all the time key off too.
light green red !
step on brake R/LG goes hot, now. if not switch is bad

Use a test lamp to identify the functions of each vehicle wire and join to the appropriate tail lamp wire. There is likely to be one wire for each function of tail lamp, turn signal, stop lamp and reverse and one ground wire - connect the ground first and it will be immediately obvious as the others are connected whether you got it right.

fuse. Tail light fuse. They are normally on the same fuse as the tail lights. So, you probably don't have any tail lights either. Open up the owners manual to the back pages. Look for FUSES. Find the diagram that shows where the tail light fuse is. Pull it out and replace it. You should be able to see if it is blown out. This will usually happen if you had a trailer hooked up. No, your brake lamps should only work when brake pedal is activated. Your headlamp switch shouldn't have anything to do with brake lites.
Sometimes if there is a faulty ground, your lamps may act weird?

The only place I know of where the parking light circuit and brake light circuit can meet up is in the tail light housings. They both use the same ground circuit.
Its possible one of the lamp panels has shorted out.
You may have to get a used shop manual to get the wiring diagrams to be able to troubleshoot it.

Turn signal tail lights and BRAKE LIGHTS NOT WORKING

It can be faulty brake light switch causing the problem or its blown brake light bulb. First check and confirm brake light lamp is working and that's not the case.

you can get to bulbs, and screws to the tail light assembly, by pulling the liner by the light you want to work on

Trailer end; Red=Brake
Brown=Running lights
Yellow=Left
Green=Right
White=Ground
You will need a turn and brake signal box IF, you have different bulbs for brake and turn lamps. If the brake and turn bulbs are one(red)lens than no box will be required. Thanks, Dana

check in the power distribution
center (black plastic box under hood next to battery). I have a trailer lamp
relay and fuse in mine.I think that would affect the tail lights..
