Wow, no engine option stated, !!!

how cold is cold, we dont know, ALASKA -50F or Keywest at +80F

what temp sensors , there can be many.

my 08 has 3 on engine,. one in tranny, and 1 in front corner for my outside airtemp option with compass.

the one that counts is the ECT, and this sensos is screwed deep

into the waterjacket or in the thermostat housing, vastly hard to heat up by hand that. for sure heating up the thermal mass of and engine

with a heat lamp is near impossible. so where is it. EXACTLY.

are you running old fuel.?

running summer fuel?

Is CEL (MIL) lamp glowing when it does run?????

hard cold starts are caused by many things.

Just too cold is one (spend time in alaska and see)

Weak spark, check it at each

you connect scan tool, early in the morn. and see if the ECT and IAT

read near the same and near outdoor (where car is parked) temperature. if yes, he ECT and IAT are working.

once started the ECT will rise to 180F or more and hOLD; does it?

if in fact you did by change warm the ECT artifically and start easy

that means the engine is flooding.

my guess is you didnt do diagnosis at bad start time.

(spark tips soaking with fuel) leaking injectors on one or more cyl?

check all sparks for flooding, not just one,

if it is flooded, the operators guide says (RTM) top crank with the throttle held open and this cuts fuel and flood engine starts.

other causes aplenty

too high fuel pressure

leaking injectors

weak spark at any cylinder, got P030x DTC codes from scan tool?

weak compression on any cyl. (sticking valves? cold) (gage it)

if the engine is good, good compression that leaves 2 more.

weak spark (if all spark plugs are strong cranking) then....

or bad fueling,

bad fueling can be.

bad fuel

leaking injectors, (for 3 reasons)

ECU is overfueling, (ECT reads way too low than reality)

The engine has 2 more sensors that can cause over or under fueling

THE MAP or MAF, you didnt say which engine so cant guess.

MAP vacuum port clogged with PCV cloud of death , gunk,.

MAF hot wire coked up, clean it.

the maf coked will cause lean starts.

the mAP can fail 2 ways, stuck at high or low pressure.

stuck high is way more common, this causes flooding.

there are other reasons.

1: EGR main stuck open ( bad news. it floods the intake with exhaust gases and that really wrecks combution to start any engine.

2: ISC stuck closed, (flooding)

or a MAF based engine with any form of induction leaks (vacuum leaks)

i think i hit them all (hope), and there are tests for each case.

ask.

Air condition and heat know not working

You need to ensure the engine is running when you are testing the AC or heating systems, as they rely upon a compressor to work the heat pump.

If your engine is on when you are testing this and no different temp air comes out, you should ensure your AC system is properly charged with coolant and that the compressor is engaging and functioning. If not, it will need to be replaced.

Air conditioning only blows cold air.

Can you hear the blend door moving when you change the temp from cold to hot or vice versa? If not, then you need new blend door actuator. Also check the heater core for any blockage. (2 ways to tell....run the car til normal temp, and turn on the heat and feel the hoses by the firewall...if one is hotter than other, there is a blockage inside the heater core. Or disconnect both hoses at firewall, and put garden hose in one of those 2 open tubes and turn on the water...good flow or weak flow coming out of heater core tube? Weak flow means blockage) If there is a blockage, time to get new one.

1997 pontiac 2.4 engine is flooded of gas and wont start

check the engine coolant temp sensor. Computer uses that to determine how much gas to feed on a cold start

My 2007 Chevy HHR 2.2L, coolant temp sensor is reading that the coolant temp is 20 degrees warmer than the outside temp after sitting for over 12 hours and the operating temp gets to 214 degrees without...

Sure the engine coolant will be warmer than the outside temperture and if the car has been sitting a long time in cold weather and the outside temperture warms up it could be the other way around. The coolant temperture sensers aren't real accurate as they are a relaitive senser beween hot and cold and the numbers reported don't have to be real just the change from hot to cold and the reching of the coolant to the operating temperture. Noe it the senser doesn't read the opertating temperture coprrectly you'll have all kinds of problems. The therostaste will try to set the temperture of the water to it's set temperture and can open or close completly to get 195 degrees F. Many times if it's too cold then the stat is bad and needs to be replaced This shows up in alot of cars first thing after winter and the first onset of cold weather when the daily tempertures vary the most from day to night.

Sounds like a faulty injector, had the same problem about 2 years ago cost over £1500 to have new injectors fitted.

It might be worth trying some redex or similar cleaning product incase its just blocked.

Take it buy Auto Zone when the light is on and get them to check the code for you. I don't know why it would do it while cold and not hot.

94 lumina will not start after getting warm. will turn over but fuel injectors dont work. works during cold weather but not in hot weather.

The check engine light should be on with the engine running. The coolant temperture senser may be open at some temps the fastest way to test this is to change the senser ( it's cheap and a high failure rate part all auto parts stores will haveplenty of this high failure part in stock and they fail many ways. If the car ever overheated it's damaged or truly bad. A very good one will optimize fuel mileage so if it's suspect change it anyway as money well spent a working but wrong senser can cost alot of gas on any fuel injection car or truck, You get what you pay for in temp sensers and the brand name ones are better. All of them are suspect to be bad even when new and ohm test at temperture charts are is repair manuels. Crank sensers and cam sensers also get hot and quit they cost more are harder to change and fail more on the 3.8 motor than the 3.1 or the 3.4. Igiton modules do this too but it sounds like its been doing this awhile and modules and crank sensers don't stay half bad very long. they stop altogrther. Temp sensers can stay bad and work wrong. If you can get a scanner hooks to the car on data stream the senser may show room temp when cold but as it heats up goes up then to -34 thats open the system doesn't know that to do as the air charge temp senser doesn't agree and the system fails to start and will check as flooded. Flooring the gas and hoding it there may start it anyway. The trottle position senser were to show open thats the clear flood mode and the injectors won't fire. Tps voltage should show .5 volt les than 1 volt at idel (it'll start) and 5 volts at full throttle or nearly. if it shows with a scanner of a voltmeter on the center wire 5 volts or 0 it won't start. Coolant senser fails more often and is cheaper

Daytime Running lights run the battery dead

The Toyota Service Bulletin is 059633, dated March 13, 2003. My 2003 Corolla has the same problem. When the lights were on this morning after a very cold night, I jiggled the headlamp switch and sure enough, the headlights turned on and off. I found that the lights can be kept off if the switch is pushed forward and left in the "high beam" position when the car is off and the weather is expected to be cold. This is easier than pulling the fuse every time, until the switch can be replaced. It worked for me. Hope this helps.
