Remove heater core

1992 S10 tahoe pickup V-6 5spd w/ac
is it necessary to remove the entire dash assy?
have glove box access hole open, and ashtray removed, can see a couple of screws, but appears that there won't be enough clearance to drop box..

on 1992 s10 remove the heater outlets and duck from under instrument panel. Remove air distribution model assembly,heater and seal. Disconnect neg batt cable. Drain eng coolant. Remove hoses at core. Remove rear case screws. Remove heater core from case.
