Are you sure it was smoke and not steam? without seeing this substance myself, I am thinking it could POSSIBLY be oil in your cooling system. Didnt the mechanic tell you? It would mean a serious problem. This "waxy" substance is what happens when oil mixes with water. It might mean your car overheated and cracked the block. I hope this isnt true. Ihave seen this before. Take off the radiator cap. Roll up a piece of white paper and slip it down into the radiator. When you bring it out, it should not have anything but water/antifreeze on it. If there is any black substance, thats oil.It got into the cooling system. Now check the oil dipstick. If it looks greyish, it means water/antifreeze got into the oil system. I'm not an expert and this is just my personal opinion. Check your radiator fluid.first. Dont drive the car if you find "oil in the water." It will cause further damage and if you plan on having the car fixed, dont take that chance.

SOURCE: is it possible to adjust a throttle position sensor on a 2000 montero sport?

when your vehical throws a code and you replace the defective part, you must clear the code or the ecm will still recognize it as an active code.

SOURCE: my truck blows white smoke

Hello!
There are two differnt reasons for black and white smoke coming from the tail pipe.
Black smoke means fuel runs rich (car getting to much gas). Check fuel pressure/air filter.
In some cases the white smoke means car is burning oil or transmittion fluid. Have tem checked/replaced.
If you can feel a smelly smoke it can be catalytic converter.
In a worsest scenario if car blowing white smoke it can be engine coolant is getting into an engine cylinder from a bad head gasket ,or a warped/cracked head. So you need to keep your eye on coolant level and check your engine for overheat. Also might be good to check your oil for traces of coolant (on a dipstick it would be a milky substance mixture of oil and coolant).
Good Luck

95 nissan quest has white smoke with tint of black andwater dripping out of it and just put inradiator/gasket sealant but it still over heats in less than 15 mins what's wrong please help??!

Your description sounds like a blown head gasket. If you drove it while overheating, there's a possibility for a warped cylinder head too. Try this...with the engine COLD, take off the radiator cap, make sure the radiator is full and start the engine with the radiator cap off. If the coolant comes bubbling out of the cold engine, it's because some of the combustion gas is entering your cooling system, usually through the head gasket.

Why is white smoke issuing from exhaust?

White smoke is coolant burning. Check radiator for oil and check oil cap for foam if you have one or both not good.

Kia Sedona oil light white smoke

Are you sure this is not the low oil pressure warning light, bet that it is. The white smoke may be from a blown head gasket, any shop can tell you just by the smell of the smoke, if it smells "sicky Sweet" then it is coolant being burned in the engine and you have big problems.

What wud cause my 300m 3.5 to burn antifreeze

A couple scenarios- none of them exactly cheap.
1- Head gasket blew or corroded; did it overheat at all recently? It may show a cylinder or two as mis-firing.
2- manifold leak. Are you also getting a lean error code?
3- porous casting or crack developed.

If you open the cap on the radiator hose with engine cold, or if you happen to have a radiator with a conventional cap, is there any oil film or sludge? Is there any on the dipstick/crankcase? If so, there "might be" a crack i nthe engine block. If you leave the cap off the hose or the radiator and start it cold- if you suddenly get a geyser of coolant- the problem is likely a cracked head or the head gasket is the issue.

"Some" white smoke may be visible when the engine is cold right after startup- this is a small amount and is reasonably normal if slight.

Hello, The pressure relief valve is your radiator cap. You have a 2003 Chrysler and two day is 2011, that mean this upper radiator hose has been in service for 8 years now. Most likely the upper radiator hose valid. Sir/Mama, it time for replacement of all hoses and belts. Have the vehicle coolant system flushed and new 50/50 anti-freeze and water installed. Also, maybe a new radiator cap wouldn't hurt either. GB...stewbison

My Toyota Corolla XL 1996 model is belching heavy white smoke. I have just changed the oil and also the spark plug. What do you think is the problem?

white smoke usually indicates the engine is burning oil or its burning coolant. when the engine is cold remove the radiator cap and start the vehicle, if it immediately begins to blow air and or coolant from the radiator you most likely have a blown head gasket, if not then remove the oil cap and feel for air coming out. if it blows kinda like a hair dryer then you most likely have a piston ring issue and you are burning oil. either way you may be looking at major surgery to repair.

Rpm drops while adling causing 'grinding' sound while white smoke flows from behind or below radiator.

You should replace the cooling fan. With the ac on and no cooling fan, high pressure builds in the condensor and compressor bogging the engine down. When it gets too high a relief valve dumps and you get what appears to be white smoke. It's actually freon, hence the smell. I've replaced several PT cooling fans with the same symptoms.
