USA answers: only: HL and starter dead. very easy. and this is what is bad. fuse 31 kills head lamps. open hood see main fuse box, open box lid, see huge 120A, fuse there, that blown kills all fuses in the CAB fuse box. ALL Things will be dead. buy why, that 120amp must never blow, you swapping parts on car with battery connected? i told you it was easy, or the battrery cables are corroded, at any of 4 ends. this would make the main box dead, making the 120Amp fuse input DEAD, a voltmeter finds this problem in 1min flat. measure both sides of the 120amp fuse, both sides read, 12.6vdc, if both sides are dead that means the battery is dead,or he cables are bad. the battery will read 12.6v the voltage drop on all cables to battery just be 0v. all this takes 5min work. ask for details. as you go, no problems.

ok work in progress, one battrery cable was corroded. cleaned it up re-hocked and still nothing? took the fuse out but didn't look blown. going to get another fuse after work today. also going to try a trickle charger on battery tonight. thanks for your help. i don't have a voltmeter so haven't checked the fuse or the battery

jump cable cranks work ? walfart meter for $10? 2 tests, both easy, 12.6vdc on battery rested, if not its bad or discharged, but you jumper test failed. that means the fuse is blow, why not just open the fuse box under hood and see that it it is, the BIG ONE, lets get head lights working first, they are always hot, and are the easiest path,,,, when they work so will other things..

you need 12v to to the fuse box under hood, and it must leave there and arrive at the cab box, or the whole world will DEAD. any voltmeter made last 50 years will do. or a test, light , i dont like test lights. , only voltage matters to me and speaks volumes about what is going on.

Ah and easy one, dead = easy.
but made impossibe by not telling year. 1986 to present.. wow, !!!!
intermittent , are very hard.
the head lights on cars is a hot all the time feature, (safety)
and simple,
you blew the main fuse in the main engine bay fuse box.
tell year, and can tell exact fuse.

or login to alldata.com and see wiring , primary and HL.
safety hint 2:
if the fues blows again, dont try another, its a hard short
the fuse prevents a fire. (imagine burning wires falling to fuel lines)
do not fall to the dark side with larger fuses or tin foil, wraps from hell.

you only need a $10 walfart meter to do this, if not obvious already the 120amp elememt is roasted, or the battery cables green and nasty/

SOURCE: Can't start car even if i try the jumper cable.........

If you have a multimeter, connect it to your battery, and select an appropriate DC voltage range. On my multimeter, I use the 20volt setting.

If your battery shows 12-13.8 volts, then it is not the issue. If your battery voltage is low, then you will probably need a new battery. A flat battery can also indicate that the alternator is not recharging your battery properly, but it could also just mean that your battery is old and needs replacing.

If your engine wont turn over, and if your battery is good, it could be a faulty starter motor.

Those jump start packs need to be charged often, or the battery inside them can stop working. It is possible that your jump starter pack is also broken.

Try jump starting the car from another vehicle, with jumper leads. If you know your battery is dead, you could also just replace it with another one.

SOURCE: 2005 kia rio will not start with jumper cables

The clicking sound is either coming from the starter relay or the starter solenoid switch. If the starter makes no click then it has to come off and get new brusjhes put in it or have the solenoid replaced. You can check it by jumping the post with the battery cable fastened to it to the smaller post with the small wire on it either with a small screwdriver or a piece of wire.If it goes then, then you need the relay,if it does nothing then you need to fix the starter.

SOURCE: turn ignition switch -wont start- no noise--

If the sound comes from the starter's solenoid, then you may have corroded solenoid contacts or bad starter. If they are corroded contacts, then for some time you have to try more than once to be able to start your car. That means you will have some warning sings before starter stops working. In some cases replacing the whole starter is the best solution.

My 2001subaru forester won't start I changed the bat. and nothing no headlights no radio but the emergency flashers work and the door chime.

If jump starting one hooks up backwards, even just a moment, it is possible to blow a fuse or fusible link, and on some cars even damage the ECU or other components. Check all fuses, then fusible links. Good luck.

Car won't start without a jump but battery okay

wont crank or wont start.??
no car starts , if it cant crank. (unless push starter (M/T magic)
that is not a trans sensor its the PRN switch.
ill answer for, wont CRANK !
it wont crank even with a good battery (charged) or jump started.
1: bad start
2: bad wires to same.
so hot wire the starter small wire, the key start line is tiny.
cranks. , starter good, no crank starter bad or cables bad.
if it cranks hot wired, then the key line is dead.
easy, huh?

1995 acura legend wont start

assuming the engine run good and nothing wrong with it, check ignition relay, can get them from junk yard if need to replaced them and will cost you barely nothing. my guess would be your ignition switch, it tend to wear out over time and loose contact. the unit is not cheap to replace and is common to some vehicle over time, some has better luck than others; this part run some where around 340-350 bucks. you can try to take ignition unit apart and jump the wire to see if that the problems. ignitions switch is like a master switch, if it faulty, it will not turn anything on, it seems like the battery is dead or something is disconnected. try this first before you decide to take ignition column apart, the next time it wont start, try to jiggle, wiggle and play with ignition unit with the key is in it, turn they key back and forth, try until the car turn on or start and see if that work. you have to play with it for awhile, if its faulty, it will also be stubborn.

Cant get the key out of the ignition and nothing works!

When you say "nothing works". Do you mean none of the lights are coming on and it wont start? If yes your battery may be dead or not hooked up or blown fuse or burnt wire.

95 F150 wont crank

the starter should be replaced. The solenoid is kikcing the pinion out but there is no contact being made to turn the starter motor. I have the exact same truck and before i changed the starter used the old starter tap trick. Tap the starter casing with a hammer and it should start turning again. hope this was helpful for you. Good luck.
