How do you replace an alternator on a 1992 sabb 9000

The valve regulating the water flow to the heat exchanger could be broken. It needs to be replace.

3.1L Engine

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
   
2. Remove the serpentine belt from the alternator pulley
   
3. Remove the air cleaner assembly
   
4. Disconnect the positive lead at the alternator by removing the nut
   
5. Disconnect the electrical connector (PLIS) plug
   
6. Remove the bolt (#1) connecting the rear brace to the generator
   
7. LOOSEN the bolt (#7)retaining the rear brace to the exhaust manifold, (it is not necessary to remove it) move the brace aside.
   
8. Remove the remaining alternator mounting bolts and remove the alternator.
   

test the fuel injectors with a noid light type into you tube to watch a video on how to test fuel injectors with a noid light

be sure to have battery disconect before you tray, star by unbolting fuse bow from inner fender and turn it arround so you can see it from bottom, you will found your fuse is bolted to supply wires, ther you have unbolt an bolt new fuse, reverse removal and you set.

1. Remove the power steering pump and cruise control actuator.

NOTE: Do not disconnect the actuator cable.

1. Disconnect the alternator connector from the alternator.

Removing WHT / RED Wire From B Terminal

1. Remove the terminal nut and the WHT / RED wire from the B terminal.
2. Loosen the adjusting bolt, then remove the through bolt nut.
3. Remove the alternator belt from the alternator pulley.

Removing Alternator

1. Remove the adjusting bolt, the adjustment-lock bolt, and the adjusting nut.
2. Remove the mounting bolt, then remove the alternator.

Mounting Bracket Removal

1. If necessary, remove the four mounting bracket bolts, mount bracket, and heat insulator.
2. Install in reverse order of removal, and adjust the alternator belt tension.

Make sure your battery is fully charged and check the teeth on the starter and flywheel.

Take a small flat head tech screw driver or a small plastic wedge and be very careful. You have to work it out. Look at the new one to see how it secures itself.

hi den the 2.3 has a hydulic tensioner that is non ajustable if the belt is lose this will need replaceing
