I have diesel car that has no fewer than 3 diesel pumps: In tank, and low pressure under bonnet and high pressure. Check the internet or a manual for better information.

It most certainly will especially sitting at lights. high engine rpms and slow speed or loaded . If the engine cools down as soon as there is air flowing through the radiator then the hub will be faulty. If the fan is not making a roaring noise when hot ,the hub is faulty.
Timing mark/knotch is on the harmonic balancer that the pully bolts to on crankshaft.Mark said notch with a white paint pen and line it up with proper mark on tab bolted to block at the harmonic balancer.
