Engine runs but stalls intermitently like it's starved for fuel, no missing, no chugging, runs smooth and then dies. Changed fuel filter which was packed with goop, but no results.

I have a 2001 Pontiac Montana minivan that is misfiring stalling and cutting out. I put in fuel additive thinking it might be the injectors and premium gasoline . Could this be a bad fuel filter?

It could be a timing issue (misfire) but it absolutely could also be either air or fuel filter. If it's starving for fuel, it's the fuel filter. If it's starving for air (too rich), it would also stall out and that could be the air filter. Basically, you need 4 things to make an engine work: compression, air, fuel, and spark.

A 460 engine that acts like its not getting enough fuel. Will start but runs as if only on half the cylinders missing badly or such.

Check your running fuel pump pressure. If (as I suspect) it's too low, first try changing your fuel filter. After changing the filter, recheck the running fuel pump pressure. If still low, check you fuel pump pressure regulator. If OK, you may need a new fuel pump.

Also probably would be a good idea to replace you air filter.

Good luck!

Volvo 960 intermitent rough running

sounds to me like you might need to change your fuel filter, i had an Isusu P'up a while back that had a pebble in the fule filter and when fuel would get flowing the pebble would be pushed up into fuel path when fuel stopped flowing pebble would fall so on and so forth, my recommendationis to change fuel filter first

Runs good until you accelerate then it lacks power it dont miss just alarge power loss in every gear if you let off of the gas its power comes back its about to drive me crazy please help? dwb

I would suggest changing the fuel filter. The engine seems to be starving for fuel and if the filter is pulgged, the engine will bog down under load. Then the engine will run better when coasting because the fuel pressure will build up again.

2001 dodge ram 1500 4X4 transmition slips intermitant, makes truck kinda of hops as you accelerate. changed filter and ATF, tried lucas ATF conditioner, no help.

I think you might be barking up the wrong tree. Try changing your fuel filter. Often people confuse a plugged fuel filter for transmission problems. I'm not positive, but from what you've descibed it certainly could be. The engine is starving for fuel, and this makes it seem like the transmission is acting up.

Poor Acceleration Stalls at idle

It likely needs a fuel pump, hook up a fuel pressure gauge, it needs to be 11-13 psi

Engine will miss intermitently

This should set a check engine light. If it did, then get the codes scanned. If it was not severe enough to set a light, then you may have injectors sticking.
