96 sebring fan not running when hot or runs constantly

I have a 96 Sebring. First I had the problem of the fan running after I shut the car off, it would then drain the battery. Now the fan does not always come on when hot and car overheats. I bought a fan relay switch but cannot find where it goes. I is not in the black panel box under the hood. Please help!!

I have a 96 sebring jxi convertible, 2.5 I don't have relays for the engine fans in the fuse box under the hood. I have a 40 amp(orange) fuse and it's marked RAD FAN Check that fuse.

My engine in my 04 Sebring is running hot, andthe a/c is blowing hot air. Doesn't happen everyday. What's wrong?

Your A/C has it's own little radiator that sits right in front of your engine's water-filled radiator. Heat from your engine radiator is prolly transferring itself into the other smaller radiator and over-whelming it. When any engine is running hot, it usually turns out to be a bad themostat, bad temp-sensors (that run your electric cooling fans on the radiator (or one (or both) radiator fans have died). I would start with the thermostat since it's the cheapest....

2004 chrysler sebring running hot

Hello, Have you checked the coolant level in the vehicle? Also when the car is running hot do you notice if the cooling fan is coming on or not? Could also be a sticky thermostat not allowing cooling to enter the engine from the radiator. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE CAR MUST BE COOL BEFORE OPENING THE RESERVOIR AS IT IS A PRESSURIZED SYSTEM. Hope that helps.

My 96 chrysler sebring keeps cutting off, its like its running hot but the temperature gauge says its not hot, has anybody had this problem? How did you fix it? Thanks!

Hi! First of all the temp gauge is faulty so you will need to replace the temperature sending unit. The cut off may be caused by a faulty spark plug. Please have a sparkplug replacement as a first course of action. Hope this helps and have a good one!

I have a 2004 chyrsler sebring v6 and recently my fan started not shutting off when i turned the car off and now its killing my battery does anyone have any idea what would make the fan stay running even...

Check under the hood and see if you have a decal that says fan may turn on after car is turned off. The fan can run for 10-15min after shut-off.
If it's on for only that length of time and it's killing your battery, you may need a new battery.
If it's not turning off at all, open fuse compartment under the hood, take a small rubber mallet and start to tap the relays. There should be one there for the cooling fan. Once you find it, (the fan will turn off when it's tapped) you can exchange the relay for another (of the same part number - like the wiper relay or A/C relay or something) restart car, let it run til hot, and turn off. If fan shuts off within 10-15 minutes, you need a new relay.
