1997 Porsche Carrera S --- Central Locking System
Battery went dead while on travel and now the key fob for central locking is kaput!
Is there a sequence to re-sync the fob to controller?

Maybe you can try this procedure to resyn your key. Initialization Procedure.
1. Open central locking system using the car key. 2. Get into the car and close all doors. 3. Using the car key, switch the ignition lock briefly to position "1" and then switch off again. (Please do this switching within 5 seconds or otherwise the system is not ready for initialization. 4. At the remote control key. Press the "OPEN" key (->) and keep holding. 5. When holding the "OPEN" key, press the "LOCK" button three time. 6. After pressing the "LOCK" button 3 times, release the "OPEN" button. 7. If the initialization process is sucessful, the door will lock and unlock immediately to confirm the process.

There is only one fuse that mentions 'Locking', but also refers to the General Electrical Module (GEM). If you change the fob battery, you need to reprogram it to the vehicle. Or you could open any Transit around you. Lots of help below including resetting..
I had an issue recently with my suzuki sx4 where I put something in the boot then it wouldn't open and my car wouldn’t lock. Turns out it was the fuses that went and needed replacing
double posted,
Check all fuses... in cab and eng. bay.
try again, again, say what dont work?
key fobs (all) dead??
or keys actual, or what,
what works and what dont. ???????????
central locking is complex. lots of switches fob and doors.
try saying what dont work exactly , instead of just central.......
state symptoms..
fobs dead., keys dead, immo dead.
there many parts to the whole system. say what parts dont work
and what precipitated the failure. (battery dead in car)?
fob, key, and door switches amany.....????
do both fobs fail?
The alarm and the central locking are all part of the remote keying system. You will not fix it with changing fuses because it is likely the ECU needs to be be reset. Unfortunately, it will require a visit to an authorised workshop to do this
Might be the central locking system. Try using the key in the door (rather than the remote control) to deactivate the security system. Also make sure that the center console is completely closed (this is part of the central locking system).
I connected a cigarette lighter (male on both sides) between my car and another car. Do not start the car, just wait until the battery has a little charge. The front bonnet should open allowing you to replace the battery. You will need to recode the radio (http://www.a2dvoices.com/realitycheck/porsche/ )
Alternative: Some newer boxsters have a red power post new the fuse box.
Any chance the batteries are dead in both of them? There's a little light on your key fob. Try locking/unlocking and watch the light (it's red) if it's dim or not lighting up then your battery (inside your key fob) is dead. They take CR2032 watch batteries.
