Question about 2005 Chrysler Sebring Conv

1 Answer

Cam shaft sensor

I have a sebring 05 and the cam shaft sensor has broken three times. The guy said it was oil getting in to the sensor and I have had it under warranty two times but this time I had to order the part myself from A&A discount auto parts 47.00 and replaced it myself. It is easy and the car will be running fine after. My car did the same spasms and sputting and the engine light comes on.

If you havee the 2.4l look for oil leaks on the head gasket, leaking oil sending unit. Oil can travel up the wires and burn out the sensor.

Where is the cam sensor in a 2002 nissan quest?

HI Chuck! The cam position sensor is inside the distributor on the quest. If the cam sensor has gone bad you need to replace the distributor assembly as it is not servicable. Before replacing the distributor, take the cap off and make sure the rotor is turning when you crank the engine. If it is not then check the timing belt as the distributor is driven by the cam shaft. If the belt is broken the cam shaft will not turn and you could get this code. The cam sensor is located under the plastic cover located under the rotor button

Cam or crank shaft sensor

It depends on which sensor and how it is designed. Some sensors are designed to function in an oil bath. Generally speaking, the sensor picks up a magnetic swipe of a gear or object as the cam or crank turns. I doubt an external oil leak would matter unless it gets into the wiring harness.

No power to the distributor on a 1998 chyrsler sebring

This car uses a basic distributor. The coil gets power from the shut-down relay brown-red wire and the cam sensor is inside the distributor. The cam sensor gets power from the key switch brown-white wire.
The relay is powered from a fuse with battery power and turned on by the key switch.

2004 chrysler sebring 2.4l dohc.

Have you ever replaced the timing belt?? If not the problem is likely to be a loose worn out timing belt. A floppy belt will play havoc with the sensor signals and trigger a check engine light and a camshaft sensor code.

1993 Grand Am jumped timing. One valve is showing over 200 lbs of compression, the other three are showing none. Any suggestions.

I've had a few of these engines break the cam shaft after cylinder #4. meaning #5 & #6 have no compression, but also no oil pressure due to no oil pump drive from cam shaft. 2 out of 3 times the engine was toast. If it truly skipped the timing, then you will need a timing chain and sprockets. When the timing skips or the cam shaft breaks, the pistons will definitely hit the valves and bend them, thus no compression. I'd recommend tearing down the engine yourself and determine what went. To check the cam shaft, remove the front valve cover and watch the rockers for cylinder #6, if they don't move then broken cam shaft.
