This guy left a lot out. First you must remove 3 nuts that connect the exaust to the manifold. Next you must remove the nut and bolt at the first union. Now you can remove the starter and reinstall a new one. Now just attach the exaust and problem solved.

Replaced the starter on my 1992 Isuzu Rodeo ( 4 whl dr, 6 cyl., manual ******), and the bendix will only spin when cranking. It does not pop out and catch the flywheel. Battery, starter, wiring, ect. all...

i dont think the starter will spin until the bendix comes all the way out. Thats the way most are wired. you sure the flywheel is good. you sure the wires are on correctly? why did you replace it in the first place?

Cannot figure out the firing order for my 1991 isuzu rodeo

Facing towards front of engine-number 1 is on passenger side front cyl of engine. Number 2 is front cyl on driver's side-number 3 middle cyl on passenger side-4 on middle cyl driver's side-5 on back cyl passenger side and 6 on back cyl driver's side. The distributer rotates COUNTER CLOCKWISE-number 1 cyl's sparkplug wire attaches to distributer cap connection closest to number 5 cyl.-to your right side of this plug wire on cap would go cyl number 2-then 3-then 4-then 5 and then 6. The firing order is:1,2,3,4,5,6

98 4 cyl isuzu rodeo timing belt

My sincere apologies for the severly delayed response.
I am personally going back to answer your unanswered questions. I have only been on this site for the past 4-months as a free contributor.

I do not know if you still need this information, however I am answering it in case you still do.

Click on the following direct Link. It has several Diagrams for your 1998 Isuzu RodeoTiming Belt. Included are step-by-step reagrding how to tighten it. There are also Photo's.

As far as how to install: It would take literally dozens and dozens of Pages using this type of forum on the Step-by-Step Procedures on Installion and Putting back the Engine together; including Torque Specifications of all Bolts and Nuts. I would strongly suggest purchasing a Haynes or Chilton's Manual, available at most auto parts store for $20-$25. They have the complete guidelines, diagrams, and phots you will need.

Again my apologies...
