Question about 2002 Ford ZX2
I had this problem on my zx2, there is a solenoid on the right side of the shifter, if you take the center console out you can see it, you can zip tie it open and it will fix the problem, i wouldn't bother with replacing it, the only thing about zip tieing it is it will shift out of park even with the car off. but it fixed it, i have pictures i can send you if you need help, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org

The brake switch it bad becuase it controls the shift lever as well to disengage so you can pull it down into gear

Your brake release is not working on your shift linkage. I had this problem with mine and I was able to fix it myself. There is a fuse under the center counsel check that first if not you may need to replace the actuator.
