SOURCE: what other year models will have the same

All the rear ends from that model run should fit size wise, and probably older as well as newer body styles. To be sure take a measurement from backing plate to backing plate to be sure. Also measure between your spring brackets. This has to be the same on you replacement rear end unless your are good at cutting and welding. Be sure you have the exact same gear ratio in the new rear end as the old. If the aluminum tag is missing, to be sure you will have to remove the cover and count the teeth on the crown gear and the pinion. This has to be exactly the same as the one you take out or you will need both rear ends in a 4x4. Most scrap yards stock rear ends by gear ratios, not dimensions. Hop this helps.

Copy and paste that in your browser. Or go to ebay and type in 1989 ford f-150 repair manual. Or go to Autozone and sometimes they have it.

SOURCE: where is the fuel filter

I have 2 1989 GMC S-15 trucks (actually one of them i bought for my daughter). Anyway, the 2.5 four cylinder one has the fuel filter on the firewall between the brake master cylinder and the engine. The other one is a 4.3 six cylinder and the fuel filter is on the inside of the frame rail on the driver's side, kind of under the cab near the fuel tank. Hope this helps.

1989 gmc s15 starts then dies

Your best bet ,take it to a qualified repair shop that has the diagnostic equipment to diagnose the problem . You already replaced a part that didn't need to be . This problem could be caused by any number of thing's . I would only be guessing without testing , are you prepared to replace every part suggest on here . Do you have a OBD 1 scan tool to view engine sensor data ? Do you know what that is ? Could be fuel related , crankshaft postion sensor , coolant temp.sensor , ignition module . Leaking fuel pressure regulator ,injectors leaking .

How do you remove the steering wheel on 1988 GMC s15?

a lot of comments with no answer to the question. you need the steering wheel puller tool. take off the nut holding down the wheel and use the "Teering wheel puller" (peice of metal with 3 bolts) 2 bolts mount to the steering wheel to pull, and one bolt pushes on the rod that the nut was screwed on. that bolt pushes and the other 2 pull the steering wheel off.

How do i change the ignition tumbler on my 1989 s15 jimmy

you have to remove the steering wheel, turn signal/emergency flasher switch assembly and a couple other pieces below that. If you have tilt steering the little clip is easy to remove but hell to get back in so if you are not the patient type take a break and try installing it again a little later. The ignition switch should be held in by a bolt. Once the bolt is removed the ingition switch slides out and the new one can be installed.
