Depending on the engine size it varies, but it is in the air intake system, between the air filter and the throttle body. Usually a 3 or 4 wire connector and if I could attach a pic.. to this I'd show ya what one looks like (courtesy of NAPA Pro link). If you don't know where this is... what makes you think it is bad???

Don't remember seeing one on that car...If you have one it is always located in the large air hose between the air cleaner box and the throttle body. (hose, maf, hose. actually is between two hose sections)

How to troubleshoot air fuel mixture problem on 1989 lesabre

If your car has a MAF sensor, it is in the air intake hose between the intake and the air filter.
If the check engine light is on, you would need a scanner to read the computer data coming from the sensors to diagnose the problem.

The codes are saying bank 1 and 2 are running lean. it runs rough and if u get in the throttle it acts like it is starving for air

Could be the mass airflow sensor or if you have a wide band oxygen sensor it could be faulty.

I changed the mass air flow sensor, car still don't want to start, when you disconnect the sensor car starts give it gas it runs great, when you still have car running and hook up sensor again and give it...

is the sensor new?
check the wire from the very root of the air mass sensor wiring to the sensor its self.

it sounds like either the air mass sensor is at fault or the wiring is touching somewhere.

Dan

Where is mass air flow senser on a 1989 buick regal

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. The BUICK Regal Mass Air Flow sensor is usually installed in the intake air duct between the air filter and the throttle body mounted on the intake manifold. Also check the throttle body for mass air flow sensors location.
On mass air flow sensors with a sense wire, this wire can become contaminated with dust particles. These particles can be removed with automotive solvents that are safe for the use on mass air flow sensors. Before replacing the mass air flow sensor check for air leaks in the connecting air ducts and intake manifold. These leaks can cause similar symptoms as a malfunctioning mass air flow sensor.

Bad or contaminated BUICK Regal Mass Air Flow sensor can possibly cause a wide range of various vehicle drivability problems such as stalling, especially when the engine is cold, misfiring, poor acceleration, etc. In addition, a problem with the Mass Air Flow sensor often causes the "check engine" or "service engine soon" light in the vehicle instrument panel to illuminate.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Tps sensor will be on the throtle body, the mass air flow is befor throtle body, sounds like your problem may be a clogged catalitic converter.

Try your radiator temp sensor located near the firewall, its green with a simple clip holding it in. Its a $25 part at the dealership. This happened on my S4 and replacing it solved the problem.
