You have to turn the key to the very first position (do not start car) and leave on for 1.5 hours, then come back and enter your code. Sounds crazy but it works.

look inside your book owner manual
somewhere it supposed to have the code and a way to enter the code ,
or a manual of the radio !
somewhere in those books the code is printed like a ink pad label !
when you change the battery you need to inter the code each time,
open the radio with the number pad enter the code
you must do step by step like the manual of the radio say !!!!!
or the car dealer could help you
if you dont have the code the radio is useless
Okay, the first thing is , there is no code on the radio. the numbers on the radio if you pull it out are the model # and the serial #. most of the time the dealer needs the serial # to get you the code. know if you enter the wrong code three times it will lock you out and instead of it displaying CODE It will display LOC.
is your radio displaying CODE or is it displaying LOC.
You need to gete the radio security code and enter it in. Just call or drop by the dealer and theye can give you the code or enter it. Should be free but your dealer may vary. When you changed the battery and lost power the radio goes into a secure mode just in case it was stolen. The code should be about 4 digets long so its not a big thing to enter. its keyed to your vin number so the d ealer may want to see that as well as your registtration and maybe a drivers licence depending on how paranoid they are.
You will need to enter the CODE. You should have a card with the Radio Code to enter. Did you have the battery replaced? if so, thats why its on. Usually the radio doesnt ask for the code unless it loses battery power. Its a good idea to let us know the complete history, even if you dont think its important.
They cannot do this over the phone./and won't..they dont know you or if anything is stolen. Procedure.. Stop at a chevy dealer or any GM dealer,they can retrieve a backup code out of the radio..by pushing some buttons. Then they call in to the delco center using the backup code and obtain a new unlock code. They can enter the code to unlock the radio. If by chance a code has been entered incorrectly 3 or more times,then they will have to let the car sit with the key in the on postion for an hour before entering new codes.
If you entered as per the instructions, (6 digit code then "aut") you have the wrong code #. The radio may have been changed. Take out the radio to get the serial #. Your dealer will tell you the new code. After about 3 tries it locks up. Then you have to leave it powered up for 4 hours before you can try again.
