Question about 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Open Question

Low headlights on 2006 trailblazer don't work

Already replaced lamps, checked fuses, all ok, when switch is turned on all other lights come on even high beams when activated, but low beams do not work, on either setting (daylight running or switching on manually), I don't think it is the sensor because the manual switch doesn't work either

check and see if the dimmer switch is working, it's most likely stuck. it might also be the headlight relay.

SOURCE: how to change bulb on drivers side low beam head light

My niece has a jimmy, they should be the same. The inside should be the high beam, the outside the low, DO NOT TOUCH THE GLASS ON NEW BULBS! Oil will cook on them and pop them! Both come off the same way. Take off the big rubber thing. They are soft but over hard plastic. Just pull them off. If you have trouble, you can flip the little wire clips that hold the headlight housing in place, this will give you room to see the rubber caps enough to figure them out better. The bulb assembly rotates CCW counter clockwise, and should slip out easily. Take the wires and plug off. it should be obvious how it pulls off. Snap the new bulb into the wires without touching the glass part. Gently replace in backwards order as you removed it. Put the rubber caps on, they keep water off the bulbs. It will break them!

The passenger side was harder for me. I had to take the air cleaner off, the whole cover and filter. You should be able to see or feel the same type caps, The low beam outside, High beam inside. The same 2 wire clips are there to release the housing. Everything pretty much goes the same, other than the air cleaner has to be removed and replaced. And make sure the rubber cap is replaced! Good Luck and good motoring!

SOURCE: replace low beam headlight on 2003 chevy trailblazer

when the hood is open there are two pins that have to be pulled. they have a 90 degree bent end that have to be rotated and pulled directly up. once both are pulled the headlight can be slid out and headlight changed.

SOURCE: 2006 Trailblazer Headlight Replacement

There are not two rods, there are two clips one under fender weild and one right above the light on top of the cover. Pull up on these two clips and pull the light forward a couple of inches and remove the dust cover. You have to take the air filter cover off to be able to reach in and replace the light. It took me about 10 min to figure these out but hope it helps out.

My headlights only work on bright. No dims on both sides. All fuses good

GM switched from having the headlight switch provide power to the lights to having it provide the ground. There are relays for high and low beam circuits. I would start checking that relay for power and ground, then the dimmer switch.

After jump starting 2006 Z4 BMW headlight low beams don't work checked fuses in glove compartment and under hood all seemed to be ok is there a relay, what do i do now

If the lights are switched then the switch controls a rely all lights are switched on bmw. Can use fog lights temporarily. Find rely test with continuity meter when on, disconnect lights first, then turn on lights switch, check for 12v at light bulb terms, if 12v then bulbs bad, if not relay is bad, test with continuity meter, rely should read 0 ohms when lights switched on, infinite open circuit when switched off. If lights work in manual switch pos then solar sensor bad.

my suggestion is that you check/ replacr the HDM(headlight driver module) relay in the main fuse box located under the hood near the battery.

{: ) It seems you have done your homework well. I presume you are referring about the main power source of the relay coming from the battery. And that you dont have any trouble with the relay receiving the control signal commanded by your headlamp switch.
You can try these: Turn ignition off. On your underhood fuseblock, there is a 15amp fuse labeled HDM. Pull this out and make sure its not blown. If it is, replace with same amp rating and check again operation. Otherwise proceed with the next step.

Using your test lamp, probe on the exposed conductor on the fuse for voltage. The test lamp should light up whenever you probe on either side of the fuse, otherwise your fuseblock is in question. We can rule out the main wiring issue if the fuseblock is supplying power to all other circuits on your vehicle. Ihope you get lucky.

2001 grand caravan low beam light not working. i chang bulb already i check fuse already.

Hi Every single time I have had a failure of low beam in a headlight without failure of high beam, it has been because the lamp bulb or halogen lamp module has reached the end of its serviceable life, not because of any wiring problems. Low beam burns out first because it is on the most. If low beam is lost simultaneously in both headlights, I would check fuse first, then the headlight switch. If low beam is lost on one side only, it is almost always going to be due to the bulb or lamp module needing to be replaced. In that case, replace them in both headlights because the other one will be going kaput in short order, as well. Also if you already replaced the fuse and bulb check the headlight dimmer control switch.
Thanks for using Fixya.

What you need to do is remove the head lamp switch and check for power on the red wire terminal c with a test light. You should have power. If you do then check the yellow wire terminal d and see if you have power when you turn the switch to low beams. The red is power coming in and the yellow is power going out.If you have power going in but not out when you turn the lights on then your switch is bad.replace it.If you don`t have power going in then you need to check for an open circuit in the red wire.Hope this helps.Let me know if you need more help.Good luck.
