The crank sensor has nothing to do with the car not turning over. Sounds like you have a bad connection at the starter, or the starter itself. That is if it just clicks when you go to start it. Now if it turns over, and won't fire, you may have a sensor issue.

The pump is part of the timing components. You only want to do this one time. So replace all the timing components. You don't have to replace the crank or cam gears.

1999 Chryster Cirrus problems

Just a couple of guesses. Bad (petulant) computer? Maybe a circuit inside that isn't right?
It doesn't sound like a grounding issue if it starts right back up, but you might check the computer ground. Quite often, that ground is on top of the engine, coming out of the wiring harness.
Hope you find it. Puzzling. Might help if you kept a scanner hooked up while driving. Then you might get some freeze frame information.

Right area. If it is a 2.4L, replace them. If it is a 2.5L, you need a distributor most likely.

2000 ford taurus leave it outside will not start put it in garage starts fine could it be drawing dampness

That sounds like a moisture problem. If you need to leave it outside over night. i'd just try putting a tarp or a car cover over the front end of your car. this will keep most of the moisture out of your engine.
