Have a 1995 GMC Sierra Truck. Gas is leaking from somewhere by the gas tank. It only leaks when the truck is running/doesn't leak sitting still but I can't see where it's coming from. What is the best plan of attach? Thanks

Chances are your leaking from the gas line from your fuel tank to engine. More than likely the pressure line, but it could be your return line as well. To figure this out you would need to take your fuel tank off the vehicle, and inspect the lines. look for rust and cracks. Rust is a good sign of weakness, and chances are this is where your leak is. Hopefully this helps.

I would start with a very detailed visual inspection of all the lines that run in or around the tank. If the problem is not seen at this point then I would recommend that the tank be dropped and all lines be checked. Shouldn't take long as long as there isn't too much gas in the tank. It may also be that one of the retainer clips has let the hose slide. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Sounds like the fuel pump. Its located inside the fuel tank so it would make sense that it only leaks when the truck is running. Hope this answers your question. Best of luck.

My gas tank leaks when I fill it up on 97 gmc sierra

Have you not looked to find where it is leaking,do that

I would suspect that the filler tube has rusted

You could remove it & solder or silver braze a small
hole, if necessary

It is possible that it leaks on top of the tank at the fuel
pump gasket, in which case you know what has to be done

1988 gmc 1500 truck acts like running out of gas will quit running then will start back an do same thing again has plenty of gas in tank

look for vacuum leaks anywhere ..check under cap/coil for wear/dirt on ignition parts replace if dirty/blackened or wet..pull a plug and look for blackened tips or carbon bildup..replace plugs if the truck carburerated or tbi..clean with stp carb and tbi will remove built up varnish and gunk in/on the throttle plate and jets..also some filters have a backpressure valve in them to prevent vapor lock in older vehicles that had this issue..if you can blow thru it should work ok..if not needs replaced with type that doent have the valve in it.(has arrow that shows flow direction)..good luck repost findings

I just came up on a 1995 gmc sierra 1500 truck. everything seems fine except it burns way too much fuel. im aware this is a fuel guzzler but this is extreme. im getting about 6 miles to the gallon. is...

The fuel regulator just keeps enough fuel pressure for the injectors. When the fuel is at the right pressure it just goes back into the tank. 6 mpg is definately not right. The only thing I can think of that would use that much fuel is a leak. I am sure you would have notices the smell of gas though. Even if the o2 sensors were bad it would not use that much gas. What engine is in your truck?

If I fill my gas tank it leaks out till it gets to 3/4 of a tank.

Sounds like the gasket that seals the gauge sending unit into the tank may be compromised... it's an inexpensive item to purchase but a pain to drop the tank to access.
You will have to drop the tank to repair...but while you have it loose, check all the hoses for leaks as well.

Coolant leak 2003 sierra 2500 crew cab, gas engine. Great truck!

Check the oil, and make sure it is not turning a milky brown color. If it is, then you probably have a leaking head gasket/cracked head/cracked engine block. I normally wouldn't recommend this, but put some stop leak in it since the leak is not severe. Hopefully it will take care of it.
Good Luck

Gas leak

These 95s are really common for fuel leaks at the flexible rubber lines coming out of the tank.
