Hook up the old regulator motor to a charger if it works the problem was not the reg it is in the wiring. wiggle the wires at the switch while holding the window button, press the switch hard,check ground for door motor if it has one this might help track down problem. If you get nothing then hook new reg motor up to a 12 volt source charger and make sure the new one works hope this helps

Principles of Operation
The driver power window regulator motor is controlled directly by the master window/door lock/unlock switch (and its integrated "auto down" module). Passenger window switch works but the drivers side switch does not


was regulator bad? did it work from drivers side switch before you did regulator repair?..if so passenger side switch wiring has issue and is not sending signal through it back to the drivers side master switches.. otherwise you need to pin test for power up power down on drivers side switch and repair that if issue going to the window on passenger side.. (possible pinched at door jam area common)

Power window


Sounds as the window regulator motor is bad. You could measure the voltage first at the window regulator motor connector to be sure that the voltage is there when you want to open the window. If there is no voltage, then the problem is or the passenger door module (in front passenger door) or wiring from the door module to the regulator motor.

Sounds like a faulty door lock actuator inside the passenger door. Have you had the window regulator replaced recently where the plug could have been disconnected?

On my 2002 vw cabrio, the drivers side front power window works intermittently - mostly won't work. Passenger side is fone as are the rear power windows. Is this a switch problem?


The most common problem with Cabrio auto windows is the Window regulator. Each window has it's own. My wife also owns a 2002 Cabrio, that had a mis-behaving window driver window and the passenger was locked in the up position. After inspecting the drivers window, I found one of the cable roller guides was broken, causing the cable to snag when using the window open / close, and resulting in the window seeming to have a mind of it's own. I had a local garage order the regulator for me, and then I disassembled the drivers door and installed the new regulator (problem is now solved).
The passenger window was bound up, I also had to remove the regulator and let loose the tension in the cable system by carefully removing the cover over the cable roller. This window works fine now as well.

if u have ck all fuses & relays& tried the passenger switch & still nothing,,could have broken wire between door & door jam where the rubber boot is ,,u mite have to peel it back to see wires

Passenger power window stopped working???


some times the window regulators on toyotas need to be resett if they get jammed or they are interupted when operating ... an easy way to reset the regulator in toyotas is to disconnect the passenger regulator or switch wait 5 minutes the reconnect and using the passenger switch hold it up for 20 seconds and then down all the way holding it down when it stops for another 20 seconds. then check that the drivers side is now working and reset

Door Glass and Regulator REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
  1. Lower the window glass and remove the inner handle cover, door lock knob (if necessary), the window regulator handle and the door trim panel. NOTE: On vehicles with power windows, disconnect the wiring couplings.
  2. Carefully peel off the door screen so that it can be reused.
  3. Replace the window regulator handle and position the door glass so that the door glass installation bolts can be removed from the service hole.
  4. Remove the door glass installation bolts.
  5. Remove the door glass. Remove the regulator installation bolts, and then remove the regulator through the service access hole. Remove the window motor mounting bolts and separate the motor from the regulator.
  6. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. If the vehicle is equipped with power windows, connect the leads of the motor to a battery and run the regulator to the down position before installing the motor. Cycle the window several times to make sure that everything is in good working order.
The door glass retaining bolts can be removed through the access hole

This may be just a case of inadvertently hitting the window lock out n th driver door window switch by mistake. Check that first. Here's some background on window operation
