Question about 2003 Oldsmobile Alero

1 Answer

My 2003 olds alero is leaking antifreeze. There are puddles every morning when I leave for work. There is also a 'light' on my dash that has been popping on when the anitfreeze gets low. What do you think is wrong with it?

THE MOST LIKELY CAUSE IS THE WATER PUMP FRONT SEAL IS LEAKING, REPLACE THE WATER PUMP.

Is it leaking inside the car? If so then it is more than likely the heater core is leaking antifreeze. You will need to replace the heater core under the dash.

Olds alero leaking collant through air condtion overflow

Heater core must be leaking. It is located close together in the dash next to the ac evaporator so it can leak out through the ac "overflow" hose.

My heater just started to blow cold air, what are

first likely problem is low antifreeze. If there isn't enough, it can't fill the heater core. wait til it cools down - about five minutes in this weather ;) and then open the radiator and fill it with antifreeze/water combination. If it takes a bit (more than a few pints, then you might try adding some Bars leak or radiator stop leak junk.

If radiator is already full then you probably have a blocked heater core or a stuck thermostat and will need to take it in.

Antifreeze completely leaking out

Well, take a light and a mirror, install new water to your system, then start looking. Once you find the source of the leak, you will know what is the next step.

99 Sunfire Coolant keeps dumping

You need to find the source of the leak. it hasn't overheated yet because you keep catching it and re-filling. From your description, it sounds a lot like a bad water pump seal (part of pump) but without physically looking you can't be sure of that. when the pump seal begins to fail, internal pressure while running often will drive the seal tighter against the shaft stopping the leak. as pressure drops as the engine cools, the seal relaxes and permits seepage.
With time, that will change and it will leak all the time.

Your cooling system needs to be pressure checked to see where the leak is. certain auto parts stores rent out a pressure checker. make sure you have the cooling system full before doing the pressure test. check to see if you have a radiator cap and fill the system that way instead of using the resevoir
