Well usualy you only have to replace half of it because it is set up like a Y the portion that come from the parking break or handel just clips in to a slide so when you pull or push the parking break down it puls the cable tight the back of it usualy bolts to clips whare the Y starts and is adjustable so un clip from the pedal and un bollt it now i sgest before you pull it out use the borken line as a pull string to feed it throug by taping them together.

2001 pontiac grand am parking brake broken

i would say either the cable is disconnected at either end or it has broke. the easiest way to see would be to have someone work the handle by ingaging and disengaging the brake and underneth the car usually more towards the drivers is where the cable runs and by engaging it you should see it move then you can trace it in both directions and see if it is hooked up. if it is hooked up then i would say the cable has broke inside and would replace it

The ABS light on my 2005 Grand Caravan has been on (front wheel speed sensors need replacement). The brake light started coming on intermittently and now stays on, checked the reservoir sensor, and the...

The ABS works according to what the speed sensor tells it. The sensor may be bad or it senses a broken tooth on the tone wheel (the sensor reads these teeth on the tone wheel, found in the hub).
You will still have Brakes, but not the ABS. You can switch the sensors from the good side to the bad to see if it is in fact the sensor itself. Good luck!

Go back and recheck your work. The cable on one or both sides might be installed improperly.

could be a partially broken wire in the wiring harness that runs in the door track. the wires are inside what looks like a plastic chain that allows it to move with the door and have seen them partially break not allowing power to flow the whole time
