Idle Issue and Temp Guage

My Audi 2005.5 A4 2.0T has an issue that I am trying to figure out. When I first start the car the idle is normal, however, when the car heats up the idle will go up and down. Like I am applying the gas pedal lightly and then removing my foot. I have also noticed that after a good 30 minute drive that the temp gauge does not get past 1/4. The heat is blowing out constant hot air so it does not seem like it would be a thermostat. I am thinking that this is related to the Coolant Temperature Sensor. Any ideas?

Could be the faulty sensor is allowing the idle to rise at it thinks the engine is cold ? but again with so many of these questions i do not have a answer without a good look myself as modern day cars have so many variables unlike the old things i used to work on

SOURCE: recent coolant problem. replaced thermostat

a compression test will tell you if your head gasket is gone.as far as the jumping gauge readings.just means you have air in the system.if no visible leaks are present it is either a cracked head or head gasket.

My Audi A4 3.2 Fsi 2006 model doesn't idle normal what can be the cause

It could be a lot of things. You'll need to be a lot more specific on this issue. First, how do you define "normal" idle?

At idle 2005 4 litre mustang shows 50 psi at 75 degrees, when at normal temp pressure drops to 15,20 at idle. At 2,000 rpm shows 40 psi. This sounds low to me, is this normal?

That sounds normal. There would be specifications for it that you should check, but that sounds pretty normal. The specs probably show a pressure for idle at normal operating temperature, and another figure at a specified engine rpm. Or it may just have one spec at a certain rpm.

The heating coil is probably getting plugged up. You may have heat at idle or slow speeds, but once you get going, there is not enough coolant going through it to stay warm. Get the system flushed or replace the heating coil.

On a cold start i have no high idle for warm up

coolant temp sensor and intake air temp sensor would be the next to check.intake air temp sensor is in the air intake tunnel between TB air air box. when running is there a DTC? by disconnecting the coolant temp sensor you put the ecm values at default try that if it corrects your issue replace it.(it will turn your check engine light on but you can clear later by disconnecting battery)

does the check engine light come on or flash when the running issue starts? sounds like you have an ignition coil dropping out intermittenly.

You need to have OBII scan performed. The fluctuating idle sinus like a MAF sensor, Temp & fan are separate issues. Get scan done, that should identify exact issues.

No link, the fuel guage issue is the sending unit in the gas tank is defective, the temp guage may be correct, have you serviced the cooling system lately or ever? What year is the car?

Overheating engine: termo guage at the middle during idle

The Temp gauge should read in the middle of the gauge at operating temperature. This is normal. The radiator fan should come on after idling (not driving) for 20 minutes. The fan should also come on when you turn on the AC. Are you experiencing overheat problems?
Please reply if you have overheating issues.

Overheating when outside temp goes above 90 degrees F

on GM vehicles they still use clutch fans and when sitting at an idle for a while the fan is not pulling enough air through the radiator and condensor so therefor the a/c starts to put out warmer air and the coolant temp. will rise a little bit. You could try replaceing the fan clucth and see if that helps any.
