Question about 1996 Subaru Legacy

1 Answer

1995 subaru legacy L wagon hand break button broke. It is the button at the end of the hand brake. Without this button, the emergency bake will not set. Mechanic said that i must replace the entire unit, that the button does not come alone and costs about $150.00 just in parts Is this true or is it possible to get just the button?

Battery and brake warning lights flash simaltaneously, but intermittently. What does this indicate?

Sounds like a short on a abs or emergency brake sensor since that would cause the brake light to be triggered also cause a sudden drop in voltage which would trigger the battery light could also be a bad ground at the battery

I do believe that from 95 to 99 are direct fit replacement seats. The seats may vary in options but should bolt right in. Good luck and have a great day.

1996 Subaru Legacy L Wagon: Handbrake button is stuck in shaft.

this is generally a failure in the hand brake assembly itself.Pulling the center console will reveal the mechanism that locks the brake cable in the unit. You probably will notice its inability to hold in this area which will necessitate replacement .

Subaru legacy wagon

This problem is usually caused when the transfer solenoid/valve assembly goes bad, it's located in the transmission extension housing & needs to be replaced. it can be done without removing the transmission.

Subaru legacy 1995 entire right hand boot is cracked in two!! Safe to drive? Or not?

Its a matter of time, if the boot is cracked then the grease inside can come out, when that happens its a downhill slide. Ive seen people drive like that for a long time but eventually it will break. When it does that car will be stuck whereever it broke.
