1981 Fiat Spider 2000 Radiator Flush Procedure

I just purchased a 1981 Fiat Spider 2000 and I would like to flush the cooling system. I was wondering if the radiator had a petcock for draining or if I need to remove the lower radiator hose. I'm hesistant to remove the lower hose until I can replace it as it has oil on it and I'm concerned it will collapse if I remove it prior to replacement.

Thank you very much for your time.

All of my FIAT spiders had a petcock on the lower part of the radiator. I think it was the driver's side.

Flushing the coolant system

Once the engine has cooled, locate the radiator drain plug and place a large catch pan underneath it. To expedite the draining process, remove your radiator fill cap to allow air to enter the system. With the cooling system refilled with tap water, replace the radiator fill cap and run the engine allowing it to reach operating temperature.drain radiator,
At this point, if you have opted to purchase a radiator flush kit, you should refill the cooling system with tap water and add the caustic fluid as directed.
Run the engine for as long as the radiator flush kit calls for (usually less than 10 minutes). follow directions on bottle for flushing. if you feel you want to use a T connection just cut into return line, from heater core. then you can use a garden hose to flush system.

How do I flush the cooling system in a 2000 hyundai elantra?

There are several methods for flushing the cooling system on ALL engine cooling systems. Time honored is drain the radiator (drain ****). Fill with fresh water and run engine to operating temperature until cooling fans turn on. Drain cooling system again. Refill with 50-50 coolant. Another method is purchasing a "T" vlave (coolant flush/service kit) from Autozone, PepBoys, NAPA, O'Reilys, CarQuest, etc.). This "T" valve is installed in one of the heater hoses & attached to a garden hose. Remove the radiator cap & turn on the water supply to the garden hose. Let water run until flush water is 'clear'. Remove garden hose from T valve & refill radiator with pure coolant until the T valve drainage turns green/orange. Install T valve cap... DONE!

How to flush the radiator on a chev blazer 2000 LS

If you are simply flushing the radiator, fill it with clean water (bottled is best) and run it through a few times. There is also "radiator flush" products that help break up build up in the radiator, that you can use; purchase at auto parts dealer near you - also, it's best to flush the block as well. You local auto parts dealer will have a tool (fairly cheap) that will allow you flush the entire system, as well as specific instructions.

Luke warm heat in a 2002 expediton

Start with Flushing out your cooling system. Flush it out with Preston Radiator flush, you have your preference of ether the super flush which takes 3-6 hours or the 10 min flush which is good if you don't have the time to flush out your cooling system.

After you have flushed out your cooling system, replace your thermostat and you should be good for another cold winter driving. What happens is that after a few years of the coolant not being serviced, the coolant crystallizes and clogs up the heater core and radiator causing poor circulation. Poor circulation will cause poor heat and or overheating issues to the engine.

Before you go through all that inspect to make sure you have the right amount of coolant in your cooling system.

Good luck and thank you for using fixya

HOW DO I FLUSH RADIATOR

Your car's radiator and cooling system needs to be clean to be cool. As time goes on, your car's radiator builds solid deposits that can clog the cooling system. A quick, inexpensive radiator flush can keep the system in shape. It's important to change your antifreeze seasonally. Before you start your radiator flush, make sure you have everything you need. There's nothing worse than draining your radiator only to realize that you need to drive to the auto store for something!
What you'll need to perform a radiator flush:

  • Phillips head screwdriver or wrench (whichever your radiator drain requires)
  • Cloth rag
  • Radiator Flush solution
  • Coolant
  • Funnel
  • Used coolant receptacle
*Be sure to let your engine cool completely before you loosen or remove the radiator cap. Hot coolant can be painful!

I was wondering where the drain plug is to flush the coolant out. Also, what is the best method to flush out the radiator? I have a 2000 Grand Am.

There is a drain plug on the engine compartment side of the radiator at the bottom of the plastic tank. The best way to flush your cooling system is to get a Prestone Raditor Flushing Kit. You can use a garden hose to flush the system out.

How do i unclog the radiator on a 1998 Saturn sl?

Your car's radiator and cooling system needs to be clean to be cool. As time goes on, your car's radiator builds solid deposits that can clog the cooling system. A quick, inexpensive radiator flush which can be purchased at any reputable store (Autozone, Nappa, etc.) can keep the system in shape. It's important to change your antifreeze seasonally. Before you start your radiator flush, make sure you have everything you need. There's nothing worse than draining your radiator only to realize that you need to drive to the auto store for something! Make sure to clear up clogs or you may soon clog up your thermostat, water pump causing your car to overheat and/or heater core leaving you cold in the winter.
What you'll need to perform a radiator flush:

  • Phillips head screwdriver or wrench (whichever your radiator drain requires)
  • Cloth rag

How to flush the engine coolant in a Fiat Sciento?

You need water and antfreeze half and half 50/50 mixture. If damage to the raditor,it will leak outside. If damage to the engine it will leak either outside or inside into the oil,and the engine is usually badly damaged. I hope you replaced the water with the antfreeze in time.

How do I flush the radiator

The easist way to do this is to wait for the engine to be cool disconnect bottom radiator hose and allow all the fluid to come out (Use a big bucket if you can or it gets messy), remember to take off the radiator cap first. THen, start the car for a few seconds allowing a bit more to come out. Then attach hose again. Put in your flush stuff for the radiator if you want to or just use straight water. Repeat this procedure about 5 times until all the water is clear. Then try to get all the water out, then refill with a 50/50 radiator fluid solution. Allow car to cool down, then, take cap off and fill more, drive for 10mins watching temp. Allow car to cool again, check level and top off if necessary, then allow to cool then check overfill container and fill to maximum line for cool.

There you go!

Have a Happy New Year!
