Question about 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 Truck

Poor Idle on a dodge 2000 ram 318CID

I have installed a new idle air valve, it runs good sometimes then wont idle at other times or real low idle. seems worst when its hot outside, sometimes it runs good when first started other times it will not idle when first started (both when cold) could the TPS be at fault?

I'd be more leaning toward IAT sensor in your intake manifold.(2 wires usually) It basically senses incoming air temperature & sends info to computer to adjust injector flow according to incoming air temperature conditions.

How to install a throttle position sensor in a dodge ram 1500

if any kind of sensor goes bad on you, you wont be able to tell just by looking at it and sometimes a light wont even come on in your gauge dash. Either way, if you are having idle issues or it cuts off when you give it gas its definitely your TPS/Idle air control valve. most of the time caused by age or wear and tear. dont ever try and fix a sensor. yes, its possible but it wont last and its not reliable unless you really know what your doing. they are cheap and easy to fix. much smarter to just replace with a new sensor.

Just installed a rebuilt carb. on a 1984 Dodge ram D-150, when coming to a stop it lopes and sometimes stalls, also when turning left it stutters and sometimes dies, worse when its been ran for a while.

You probably need to adjust the air/fuel mixture screws. Sounds like its running a little too rich. When you first start the engine, is the idle speed real low? If it is, then this is more evidence that its running rich

I would check the idle air control valve. Also check for a sticking throttle cable or throttle plate in the throttle body.
