Acts like running out gas

bad idea , sitting cars sitting with E10 fuel, is car in USA? with our
crappy ethanol?
no year stated, or engine size, many engines, 1973 to now. sure.
ever tune the engine up this decade? in last 60k miles. oops....?

you only need 3 things, after good fuel.
1: compression above 150PSI (most engines, tell year,)
2: good spark, on all cylinders and timed right.
3: good fueling. ( soaking wet spark plugs (fuel) is called flooding.
is it flooding, say so and we work that angle.

just 3 things to make it run, mostly.
in most cases (i always have exceptions)

if #1 is good, and #2 is good, the engine can now burn fuel.
and not flooding.. we...
so we try test fuel, (in a spray can, i like CRC fuel safe starting fluid)
does that test pass/?
yes, then your EFI system is not injecting.

here is a man Chris, running an engine with a dry fuel tank
all cars do this , otto cycle engine (gasoline)

see scotty yet.
scotty has the best video

here is the list .

old cars.
old engines
on old engines, i do this.....
1: the tuneup and fresh engine oil , i do the 60k list in the operators guide.
if the engine has solid lifters, i set lash , so that when it does start
i dont burn the valves to a crisp.
as you can see , not starting can be a blessing,
(lash or DOHC interference engines, most hondas are.)

This engine, i do leak down tests. to make sure the valves are not bent, then a full compression test, if really really smart? put in a
new timing belt, so the engine dont grenade, the first week you got it running. it's an interference engine, something to respect and understand, if the car has any value to you at all.
does it?
its not a free running engine. not at all. (99.9%)

Car acts like it runs out of gas

Hi: Try changing the fuel filter, Also check the gas tank vent, when it stalls loosen the gas cap and try to start it again it may not be lack of fuel but when you open the cap you are reliving the vacuum from the tank, after you close the cap the vacuum will build again. It can also be the gas cap if it is vented. Good Luck /AL

Truck acts like it is running out of gas? Replaced fuel filter. Ran fine for awhile but now still acts like it is starving for fuel.

my '93 f-250 (4.9L) stopped running while driving, now it acts like it isn't getting any fuel. Tried switching tanks, but still does the same. What would be the problem.

I have a 1992 Jimmy 4.3 liter, 4x4. My Problem it acts as if it is running out of gas. The fuel pump is running, there is gas at the throttle body. If runs well for a time then it acts as if it has run out...

What might help, if you can get, or have a in line fuel pressure gauge installed, to see if your pressure is consistant from the pump. At least this will eliminate the fuel pump if your readings are good.(I seem to think that TBI pressure was around 12psi, and fuel injection was around 40 psi.)

Have a 1994 blazer, was acting like not getting gas, and some times acts like it is flooding. Have changed the fuel filter, it was dirty. It is still doing the same thing.

Test the fuel pressure. Also run some really good cleaaner ( like Techron ) through the sysytem. If you have good fuel pressure, have the regulator tested. Hope this helps;
