Definitely sounds like the valve cover gasket is bad. Valve cover gaskets tend to wear unevenly and would start as a small leak that's hardly noticeable but soon develop into the huge leak you're describing. It wouldn't surprise me if you also heard a "ticking" noise coming from the engine, an indication that all of the lifters weren't properly getting lubrication.

Check your oil filter - The oil filter on these is located right next to the crank pulley.

Air pump/Smog pump and Compressor go on first, on the shaft. Power steering goes on next Altenator is the last one. After market pulleys and the above mentioned parts may change this order.. 1983 olds delta 88 royale

I have 89 old 88 delta. When driving it sounds like a real high humming noise from the passenger front end, when the weight is shifted to the drivers side it seems to go away until weight is put back on...


Wheel bearing. Sounds like the right front, but have the mechanic verify it first. A lot of bearings have been replaced for the opposite side that they thought was bad.

How do I remove oil pump pulley to replace the water pump?


If you mean the power steering pump, it will have to be removed to access the bolt. It's just 2 bolts. You get them through the holes in the power steering pump. Just unbolt it and push it aside.

Heater problems


there is a blower motor control unit under the hood on the right side near the firewall, unplug this and it should stop running. normal problem for a lot of gm cars with electronic climate control
