Not Sure How to Service

Hi,
I just bought a 2000 oldsmobile bravada with 141000 miles and I was wondering what I should service on the vehicle. The previous owner had it for a year and a half and said they never really had to replace anything. They did routine oil and changed the brakes but thats it. I like it a lot and just want to make sure there won't be any problems that I could have prevented by bringing some attention to it. What would you reccomend I have a mechanic look at, it's due for an oil change so I figured this would be a perfect time to address all areas of need. Thanks for reading.

One area often overlooked is the automatic transmissoin fluid. Transmission fluid should be purple or when it gets a little older, a little reddish. Once it starts to turn from red to brown, it needs changing. Apart from that, the normal stuff like air filter, even wear on the tires, strength of coolant/anti-freeze would be areas also often overlooked.

Best of luck with the car and good job doing your homework!

You should check for coolant condition, trans fluid, and diff. would not heart to go ahead and replace the fuel filter.and then just do a visual under vehicle to see if there is any suspention issues.

The plugs should have been changed (due at 100,000 miles by the previous and the transmission fluid and filter changed, it is always a good idea to check the cooling system hoses at this mileage, they should have been changed by now as well as a coolant flush which is due at 100,000 miles

Should i change the Oil in the Transfer case of my 2000 Oldsmobile Bravada AWD with 96,000 miles. I just purchased the truck ?

since you just bought the vehicle -- it is not a bad idea to do a full service on it. that way you know it has been done and from this point on you can keep up to date service records.

Service AWD light flashes intermittedly. Just wondering what service may be necessary.

This could be a faulty sensor or low fluid. You can try disconnecting one battery cable for a few minutes then reconnect and see if that resets the light. If the light comes back on, check all fluids and see if that fixes the problem. If the light keeps returning take it to the dealer or mechanic that can scan it for codes.
