Question about 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier

2003 cavalier revs higher then normal, when pushing brake pedal car still wants to keep driving...what is wrong?

    Throttle positioning sensor or map sensor perhaps. Any check engine or service engine lights on your dashboard lit up?

It may be the Idle Air Control is bad or carbon in the throttle body holding the Idle Ar Control.

There is never a test or reason to pump your brakes

Accomplishes absolutely nothing.

There is no pressure in a braking system at all,
until you SLOWLY apply the brake pedal.

Then less than 1" off movement in the master cyl,
will develop 600 to 1800 lbs at the wheels

Release the brake pedal, the system goes to zero,
IT DOES NOT HOLD ANY PRESSURE

To answer your question

You not suppost to press the pedal hard
The saying goes--you apply the brakes,
not force the pedal arm and pin into the
vacuum booster, as though you want to damage it

When your driving what happens ?
You have higher manifold vacuum and
thus your pedal is normal,why the VACUUM
brake booster

2003 Ford Ranger Pickup traveling down the road


Is there somthing hitting the gas pedal, like the floor mat? Or maybe something under the dash came loose and is getting caught under the brake pedal and pushing on the gas. Put the shifter in neutral if you get into a situation where going to hit something or someone. The engine has a rev limiter, to prevent it from over reving.

It sounds like there is a problem with the brake booster. they use engine vacuum to operate and that would make it rev when you brake

Engine suddenly revs when stopped & @ idling


sounds like one of the metal arms connected to the engine may be getting stuck some how. have someone get in car and press on gas when car is off while you watch engine to see what is moving, then check those arms to see if there is any possible obstructions or knicks or something on them

Hissing sound from brake pedal of Renault Scenic 2001


Hi,
From your description this appears to be a Brake servo issue.
The brakes are assisted by a vacuum created from the draw off the inlet manifold, it gives assistance too the brake pedal pressure by a large tank/cylinder mounted on the Bulkhead/firewall.
I feel that the sound you a hearing is air being draw into the Brake Servo from the foot pedal seal and the reason for fluctuation in the engine is the vacuum from the inlet manifold is being upset.
Attention I suspect should be addressed to the Brake servo/pedal seal or gaitor.
I hope this clarifies your thoughts?

CLICKING NOISE


That is simply the mechanism that keeps your car from shifting unless you have the brake applied. It is louder than most vehicles, but that is one small sacrifice for good quality, cheaper car. The noise is normal.
