Blocked EVAP Canister code on 2005 Kia Sedona

The check engine light comes on after about 15 minutes of driving in the morning and once the evening hours hit, it goes off. The only code showing is for a "Blocked EVAP Canister". It runs fine, I just can't get it inspected until the light goes off. Any ideas on how to fix this problem? It's always been like this. Last year, a new gas cap fixed the problem for a little while, but then it resurfaced.

SOURCE: 2002 kia rio rxv check engine light came on again..

On my wife's car the mechanic said it was gas cap. (NOT!!) I cleared with an OBD reader and the code suggested a leak in the evatorator system. I found a steel tube that was routed over the weld flange of the gas tank. It went from the front of the car, down the drivers side, over the weld joing of the gas tank and into a charcoal evaporator filter on the passengers side near the rear wheel. The tube crossing over the gas tank crumbled when I touched it. I replaced it with a short piece of reinforced neoprene hose (to cross over the gas tank) and a couple of hose clamps. Cost of parts was about $5.00. Havn't seen Check Engine since. Good luck

Sounds like the dealer has more work to do on the EVAP System. Smoke test the system and check Tech Service Bulletins. You could go to a local garage,it would be cheaper.

How can I replace the evap canister in 2011 Kia Sedona?

How do you know the canister is bad?? There should be no issue with it being a 2011 unless you ran over something and damaged it. There are many things other than the canister that will cause evap leaks/codes. What code led you to the canister replacement idea?

Smell of gas and whistling sound

Its all connected.
The computer uses a solenoid to vent the fumes from the tank when the engine is running.
The vapor canister holds the fumes until the vent valve is opened.
The computer tried to vent the tank and something went wrong.
It could be from the excessive heat or something with the venting system.
A mechanic would test the venting system.

Where is the evap purge canister valve located on a 2002 kia sedona?

The canister purge valve is located behind the intake manifold in the engine compartment on the firewall side .It should be a small round solenoid with a wire connector attached. It will have a feed hose from the evap cannister to the purge valve and then to the intake manifold. The evap canister is located on under the vehicle on the right side of the gas tank and is held in place by a bracket. If you follow these hoses it will also get you to the canister purge valve.I hope this helped.

I was told I need to have the EVAP cansiter replaced in my 2005 Kia Sedonna Mini Van. Can this cause my car to have trouble accelarating or shifting gears?

What was the reason given for replacing the canister? Was it a trouble code that showed up on a scanner, and if so what was the code. It doesn't seem plausible that a 2005 model vehicle would need a new evap canister. I think the only way the canister would affect the driving characteristics of your vehicle is if it was damaged and had a bad vacuum leak.

Ford escort wagon 1997 code p1443 displayed. what does this indicate & where is the cannister? thank you.

P1443 - EVAP Control System / Vacuum System Purge Control Solenoid Or Purge Control Valve Fault. A fuel tank pressure change greater than minus (-) 7 inches of water in 30 seconds occurred with a purge (fuel vapor) flow at less than 0.02 pounds per minute.

Possible Causes:
  • Blocked fuel vapor hose between the EVAP canister purge valve and the FTP sensor.
  • Blocked fuel vapor hose between the EVAP canister purge valve and the engine intake manifold.
  • Blocked vacuum hose between the EVAP canister purge valve solenoid and the engine intake manifold.
  • EVAP canister purge valve stuck closed (mechanically).

  • Possible Solution:
Check for blockages between the fuel tank, the EVAP canister purge valve, and the engine intake manifold. Check for obstructions in the EVAP canister purge valve diaphragm and ports.

The canister is on the passengers side near the firewall if I recall correctly.

My kia sedona check engine light is coming on. i use a scanner to see what the was and the code it gave me was po452

this relates to your evaporation pressure sensor. It is not providing an appropriate signal to the computer. Check the connector on the sensor to see if it is off. If the code will not clear and stay off, replace the sensor. The sensor is along the hose that goes from the fuel tank to the evaporation cannister, which is usually in the engine compartment. I'm sorry but I cannot find a picture for you of where to find the sensor.
