Question about 2006 GMC Canyon

1 Answer

You people are obviously much more automotive / mechanically inclined than me. Can anyone tell me in a relatively simple manner how I go about changing the Brake Light bulb on my 2006 Canyon? (I already bought the buld, so you can skip step 1)

It should be as simple as taking the brake light assembly off and switching them out. Shouldn't be too difficult

I would advise getting a second opinion A mechanic told me my 92 Le sabre 's tranny was shot and when I took it to another mechanic he found my spark plug wires were shorting out and causing the car to down shift when you went up a slight incline and it would jump in and out of different gears. I replaced the plugs and wires myself and it rau like new.

Ticking noises / Spun Bearing

If it is a light ticking noise it could be something as simple as tappits on rocker arms. valves pinging..........IF it is a ticking and not a KNOCKING noise then i would have another mechanic take a look at it...Sad thing that happens is some mechanics will give wrong suggestion for the simple fact of making your wallet lighter.... not saying this is the caes but something this costly needs more than one mechanics opinion. My suggestion would be have another mechanic look at it not telling what the first mechanics opinion was and then see how they compare..... hope this info helps and good luck....Please rate my post.

Leaking something

There are only 2 things that run the length of your car.

1. Gas
2. Brake Fluid.

If its gas then you have a cracked or broke gas line. And if its brake fluid you have a ruptured line.

A simple dab and smell will tell you witch it is. If you are not mechanically inclined i would take it to your preferred mechanic shop.

I am planning to change the timing belt for my 2004 lancer. does anyone have a step by step procedure? some visual aid also would help me

Visual aids and step by step instructions ... this is no simple process ... can be found in the library automotive section. Go do some research on this before you try. Obviously, you are not a professional ... neither am I. I would do exactly what I am suggesting BEFORE I tried a procedure like this.

Driver's side puts out warm air while the passengers side put out cool

this is the task i don't even recommend someone to do it yourself unless one has little more than mechanical incline. this common problems with many GM vehicle, it may not need any parts. the ac unit is working fine, the problems is, it behind the dash air flow control unit. the bad part is time consuming taking the dash apart to get to it. once behind the dash one has to know what to look for. any shop/dealers will get you on the labors, some will hit you 250-350 just to do the simple job even-though its time consuming. next time you get an oil change, see if you can talk to one of mechanics and ask does he know of any mechanic that does side work. you be surprise all the year I have worked in automotive industry, every shop has those mechanics. you can wheel and deal with them to see if he willing to do the job at agreeable price. this will you best avenue if you don't want to take the task. I know some mechanics advertise on craig list and some will even come to your home. You can also advertise it "needing a mechanic", with this economy I know lots of mechanic are starving.

Engine died going up a small incline, and wouldn't start

Clicking sounds more like a starter circuit problem (like corroded battery terminals or starter solenoid or relay) If there is a poor battery connection, it may have caused your current problem but is definitely not related to anything to do with the distributor. Dist may have failed as a separate issue, but not related to clicking.

You have to bleed the pump and rent a pulley puller but if you are mechanically inclined it should be relatively easy although time consuming.I am attaching a pictureca783e0.jpg

Clutch replacement

It is a very labor intensive job, also the components are very heavy and unless you use the proper trans jack or some other method to hold the trans for removal and re-installation you can really injure yourself. On a hydralyic lift, about 4 hours, on the ground, all day.
