When you say shakes i am guessing the steering wheel. If it is the steering wheel shaking, it's know as the death wobble. Check the front steering components, look for worn or broken parts. Most common for death wobble are the tie rod ends, idler arm and pitmen arm. look for play along the track bars and check the ball joints. The other thing too that will cause a death wobble is a bad alignment. there may be negative or no caster at all which would give you a death wobble. Check all of the above and keep me posted. Good luck and be safe

In virtually all solid axle 4x4s, death shakes are caused by two more more factors playing against one another. Death shakes are not defined as "at bit of steering wheel wobble" actual death shakes or death wobbles almost always come on suddenly and are very frightening to drive with.

In the Jeep coil spring front ends, the track bar bushings, tie rod ends, ball joints, wheel bearings, and steering damper must all be carefully tested and inspected to properly repair the problem. Also check the control arm bushings.

- Any play at all that is beyond the specification must be fixed by replacing the offending parts with high quality units.

- All of the suspect or worn parts must be replaced at the same time to effect a proper repair. Do not try to replace one thing, and then another, and then another - death shakes will rapidly wear out new parts.

- Also check for damaged holes where the track bar mounts to the frame and axle.

2008 jeep wrangler hood problem

I just bought a 2008 jeep wrangler and my hood is lifting 2 to 3 inches off the frame when I'm driving on the highway in wind speeds over 15 to 20 mph. I've owned two jeep wranglers in the past and I've never had this problem but chrysler keeps telling me this is normal. What's normal about a hood that is lifting off the frame?

Shaking Stering Wheel in a 2006 Jeep

If it shake only when the brakes are applied, then it is a brake issue/ uneven wear on the pads & discs.
There are upper and lower control arms, but if they are bolted tight, it shouldn't be the issue. If you hear clicking, check out you CV joints.
Have you rotated you tires? Patterns can wear in and cause lots of shaking.

The e-brake switch should be right on the pedal or lever. You may have to remove some trim to get to the wiring.
