Question about 1998 Dodge Neon

1 Answer

1998 dodge neon 2.0 L DOHC A/c not working blowing warm air. Checked the system, the pressure on the system is holding far too high as in the red zone. I emptied the system and then started to refil but immediately the pressure went back up close to the red zone and I stopped filling. I was told it could be a number of things. But most likely an orfus tube? I called the dealership and they said which one as the parts guy says there are 3 tubes?? I told him my problem and he said go to his mechanics and start there!! The compressor is spinning and no noise is coming from there. I was also told it might be a pressure release valve? Anyway I do not want to put much money into it so any procedures I can take to investigate the system wuold be helpful. Thanks. Gerry Oh, also there are no blue caps just 2 black caps one on the line and the other on the container up against the fender. Which line do I use. I see the filler hose only fits on one of them so I guess that is the one correct?

Does a chevy cavalier 2.0 fuel pump put out same pressure as 1998 dodge neon 2.0 dohc?

if its a racing fuel pump than it will have more BUT that will do you no good if you dont have racing fuel injectors, fuel rail, bigger intake manifold, bigger throtle body, and your mapping tuned in with a flashable pcm$$$$$$$$$$$$. stock fuel programing will let it run stock no matter how much pressor your fuel pump puts out. fuel injectors are solenoids that the pcm opens and closes they dont stay open. BUT IT WILL WORK

My 1998 Dodge Neon manual transmission DOHC idles high. WHY??

Without actually seeing the car, I would first look at the linkage and springs from the accelerator to the fuel intake. Could be as minor as dust build up or loose cable. Start with that, should that not fix the problem, try adjusting the idle set screw. Turning it clockwise will increase idle, counter clockwise will decrease. Try to have idle around 500-600rpm.

I have 98 neon 2.2L DOHC that uses coolant, just a little every time I drive it, I don't see any leaks and no coolant in the oil and cannot smell any coolant in the exhaust. Will have to add about a quart...

I would1st Pressure test the cooling system for leaks. Also, be sure to pressure
test the Radiator cap as well.
Assuming pressure testing the system shows no leaks, and if your radiator cap is
2 or more years old, then most likely your radiator cap is defective. Replace it!

99 Dodge Neon 2.0 DOHC fixed blowed head gasket still won't start

You mention that it acts like it jumped time. By that do you mean that every few revolutions it sputters like it's thinking about starting, but fails to actually run? Have you checked to confirm you're getting fuel? Have you confirmed you're getting good spark? Have you double-checked all vacuum lines and electrical connections to make sure all the appropriate sensors are plugged in? Do you have a scan tool with datastream mode so you can make sure sensor readings are reasonable? Do you have all the intake air tubing properly installed and secure? I'm not sure if the '99 Neon uses a MAF sensor, but if so, having that unplugged or having some of the intake air tubing not tight or with a hole somewhere can cause the symptom you describe as well.

Air conditioning blowing fuss

Faulty clutch/coil assembly. If there was zero pressure in the system the low and high pressure sensors would not allow the clutch to engage, just to clarify.

Ac problems

check the high side pressure. if it is above 200 you either have some sort of restriction or the fans are not working. of course this is just one possibility.

The one closest to your AC compressor... i.e. the part that the belt spins around.. Is the low side.. Not to mention, air conditioning recharge hoses ONLY FIT on the low side.. Worst case scenario, try both.. the one that it clamps down on to is the low side..

1998 AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM NOT COOLING

when u say u checked for leaks did u use a uv light and the yllow glasses cause thats the only way to see leaks i would check all connections including service ports under the red n blue caps (high n lowside ) also if ur system went to low u might have to evactuated first for it to work also when u take it in to evactuate the system they should tell u if its holding pressure

I am having trouble with my speedometer not working occasionally and now my seat belt light is coming on sometimes too. Is this the instrument panel cluster? Or something else? 1998 Dodge Neon. Backstory is as follows: -We take very good care of it and have one dedicated mechanic. -It has only had two owners; my parents and I. -We replaced the battery 2 months ago. -Mechanic checked to make sure the speedometer sensor was working. -We have had issues with the radio for years where it will randomly turn on and off, typically brought on by a stuffed trunk OR wet weather. -The speedometer works until we hit a bump and then the needle flies up and down or sometimes just stops working all together. -Mechanic has made mention of there being some Chrysler specific battery cable that is a smaller side cable and it is not in good condition. -Currently, my problem is that I can't find an old 1998 Dodge Neon in the salvage yard because yards are doing a lot of 2002 and newer vehicles and automatically crushing the others. The meat and potatoes of my question is what direction do I go in? And what of these symptoms ties to each other? And will adding new solder to the points on the panel fix it or is it something else? I'm trying to find least expensive to most expensive options and I'm rather handy but can't drop an engine or transmission or anything so keep this in mind. My handiness ends at resoldering the pins BUT I do have a mechanic I trust, but I fear that maybe I'm not combining symptoms properly. I have the money to repair an item I KNOW is wrong but not to chicken hunt around for problems.
