Question about 1996 Honda Odyssey
Recently the D4 light is blinking, even in park. It does not start to blink right away but it is increasing. I also had the problems my ABS light. From reading the other questions and comments here I have discovered that the sound coming from under the dash board is connected to the ABS. I have put the car in for a service and the mechanic says that his computer is not picking up the ABS light. He says not to worry about it though. The thing now is the blinking D4 light. Also I can hear my radiator bubble/boil when I turn off the car. The gauge in the car reads normal. It had stopped for a few days but this morning it was bubbling again. Help please on the D4 blinking. I don't want to take it back to the mechanic unless I have absolutely have to.
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

The D4 light blinking indicates there is a diagnostic trouble code stored. When a malfunction occurs, the vehicle computer records the code and stores it,then flashes the D4 light to let you KNOW there is a problem. On pre OBD 2 Honda vehicles,1995 and back,Hondas are manual code read, which means you do NOT hook up a scan tool as there is no scan port. The passenger side front kick panel is removed, and a blue 2 wire connector located.Use a jumper wire to short out the connector, then turn the ignition key on,with engine off,not running. This throws the computer into self diagnostic mode, and the D4 or "s" light will flash a series of flashes. The flashes have to be counted, and written down. For example,2 flashes followed by 4 flashes would be a code 24.The code is then looked up with reference material for a description and diagnostic route.Every diagnostic trouble code, has a diagnostic route, for repairing the problem.Again, this informtion, the diagnostic route,is available in reference material from pay sources like All Data Online. After the repair is made, the battery is disconnected to clear the code.Good luck.

If you are absolutely sure that the all the abs sensors are good. Then the only other factors are the abs unit itself and the abs computer. Please have the system checked with a a scanner to make sure. Remember the only way to an ABS light will reset is by driving the vehicle and if every component of the system is fine the light will go out. Because your light is on there is a problem in the system and your abs is not functioning when the light is ON .Good Luck

Blinking D4 can also mean electical problem. In my case it was ignition switch's life comming to the end. If my ignition switch was finaly dead and I replaced it with a new one D4 was not blinking anymore. If you have problems with ignition switch, for example it will not start engine at first time try to replace it before it will break on the road in least expected moment. I have '95 odyssey. The ignition switch is faulty in time, it was subject of honda factory recall.
