2001 f250 7.3 diesel cold weather starting

My 2001 7.3 starts fine but unless i let it completely warn up when its just
slightly cold out, it will stall when i start driving, like it cant burn the fuel or
its not getting any. When i try to restart, it takes a few times to get it started....runs ruff for a few, then it runs like the day i bought it.

This sounds like a fuel contamination problem Assuming you have allready ck that glow plugs are all working add a few cans of dewater to tank and drive it a bit change fuel supplier

a simple way to see if glow plugs are even trying to work is right after wait to start lite goes out look at voltmeter on dash if it's not bouncing a bit there not working

glow plugs preheat the combustion chamber so cold fuel will fire off

also that truck might also have the fuel heater internal to filter housing
installed that might be burnt out as well OHM meter will tell you if so

Car will not start in cold weather

Is this petrol or diesel ? if it's petrol the chances are that it is a fault with the cold start injector system. if it' diesel I would suspect a glow plug fault .

A very common fault with them in cold weather is the lift pump, an in-line torpeedo like pump situation half walf between fuel tank and engine under the car.

Part number is 16146767383 however buy off BMW it'll be expensive so order the exact same one off Land Rover under part number WQB100482 and save £££s ;o)

I am 99.9999999% certain this is your issue.

Truck fails to start

The 01 DuraMax trucks do not have a block heater, unless they were special ordered with one. Just turn the key to the on position a few times before you try to crank it, and hold the accelerator partially down while doing it. However, don't hold the accelerator if it starts to crank, it DOES need a minute to warm up before being revved. Also, use a diesel treatment when its cold, it helps a lot.
